I just bought a jar of this today and i am wondering. I want to lose the FAT, and build LEAN muscle at the same time. Now i was told this was one of the best products on the market that could help me do this. But only if i drop down the intensity of my cardio down a bit.

Here is a link to it http://www.optimumnutrition.com/products/100-whey-gold-standard-p-201.html

And whats your take on it ?

The whey protein is excellent for feeding the muscle, helping it grow. But simply using whey -- or any -- protein, won't make you lose fat. To lose weight, you need to eat a proper diet (cut out the sugar, except for a little bit of fruit!), proper sleep, and a balanced lifestyle where stress is under control.

Cardio is great, but needs to be combined with resistance workouts (free weights will give you a better response than nautilus machines, but machines are good).

As far as protein supps go, I was recommended "100% Whey Pro-Amino" put out by Healthy 'N Fit. 2 advantages: double the protein in a single scoop (45g) and it uses Stevia as a sweetener, which is not artificial and has a great effect on balancing blood sugar.

    Good Luck!

If it is not artificial where does it come from?

it's an herb...its been used for like hundreds of years.

anyway...I'm not sure what you mean by cut down the intensity of the cardio. If you want to lose fat, you need to be burning more calories than you are taking in (where have I heard this before?).

    - Cardio is a good way to burn calories. High intensity is better than low intensity. Intervals are better than high intensity.

    - Having more muscle is a good way to burn calories. You'll need to do resistance training to increase muscle mass, and too much cardio can inhibit muscle growth.

Both of those, paired with a reasonable diet will help you burn fat.

Protein alone...no matter what kind it is, will not by itself burn fat. If someone told you that they are lying.

As far as 100% whey. It is a fast digesting protein that is good for certain occasions (after a workout and/or throughout the day). Casein protein is a slower digesting protein that is also good (before bed, or early in the morning for sustained release).

For muscle building, you want to provide your body with a steady source of protein throughout the day, and a little more when it needs it most (after your workout). Thats why the two types of protein are complementary.

What I want to know is, why doesn't anyone on this thread have a picture?
