If takes 15 minutes to watch the recipe video then it would take two hours just to prep it.

What kind of daily sex favors comes with marrying you?

Do I have to bake the cake every year or just the one time?

Something with peanut or hazelnut in it, or an apple or pear crisp/torte/cobbler.

yes, the cake is basically a devil's food cake with less cocoa and red crap. people think it's unique because it just looks sexy... it is pretty much the sexy bitch of cakes... but it's a bitch to make (supper sloppy batter) and doesn't taste that good. essentially it's just good eye fucking.

to the OP, you don't want to eat that. she uses regular food coloring, and i don't care what people claim, but you can taste red food coloring. there are ways to get the red color without reverting to that stuff.

and for the record, that cake is a total lie. red velvet cake originally got it's red hue, more of a rust really, from the dutch cocoa powder oxidizing with the buttermilk. using coloring is like trying to stay blond after you go have gone gray and saying that it's your natural color.

    @HowHotKC
Privileges come with how awesome your cake is. Without tasting, I can't say.. hehe icon_twisted.gif

    @ credo
Every cake worth it's while has got to have chocolate in it. Otherwise it is a lie. I'm sorry you can't taste the awesomeness that is chocolate icon_sad.gif. Chocolate is definitely my kryptonite. Pure chocolate (dark/unsweetened) for the win icon_biggrin.gif

    @ Calibro
Why don't you make me one and I'll be the judge hehehe icon_twisted.gif

Also a peanut butter pie? Never heard of it icon_lol.gif silly Americans haha

The old Canadian Baskin Robbins ice cream cake.

a solid slice of their tubs of Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream (no cookie crumble shit inside)
    with soft serve coating
and the old crisco + icing sugar + food colouring frosting around the edges.

Now the price has been jacked up, sizes are smaller and they use whipped cream for icing. My favourite food doesn't exist anymore. icon_cry.gif

I tend to fall in the "red velvet cake is overrated" camp too, but then again I think most cakes, and especially cupcakes, are pretty overrated. The best part of red velvet cake is usually the cream cheese frosting. The cake itself often doesn't have much flavor.

I'll stick with pies... and cookies... and caramels... and I don't need a man to make those for me, I already make them on my own.

Red velvet cake is usually the most expensive because as mentioned before it's made with real cocoa. In Manhattan, the red velvet at Magnolia and Buttercup bakeries (same recipes) are nirvana. Not so much a fan of the Crumbs version - too moist, sweet and sugary with way too much icing. But then I'm more of a Dunkin' Donut guy (denser and cakier) than a Krispy Creme (puffier and sweeter) one.

Thanks, BlackCat. The pie recipe is safely saved in my recipe file. It's an interesting twist on the peanut butter pie idea.

Carrot cake. Delicious and easy to rationalize (the main ingredient is carrots! carrots are good for you!), but pretty labor-intensive to make from scratch.

Also: when apples are in season locally, I will put out for them.

Never knew Red Velvet Cake had chocolate - learned something new here from the video.

And looking at the ingredients and preparation for it, now know why I never liked it. Agreed it's more of an 'aesthetically' appealing cake than one that excites the taste buds - at least for me.

That Peanut Butter Pie recipe was something interesting...

I've not baked in a while, but had to check out my fave site allrecipes.com and see if they had this recipe there.

This had the best pic there from their Peanut Butter Recipe search results ...

    242036.jpg

seems simple to make too! [recipe here]

But damn...I need to focus on eating better haha.

    *channeling inner Homer Simpson voice...grrrggh...cake...mmm*
