I don't know anything about the sport, I have female cousins who know more about the game and the history of teams who won superbowls and championships then I do. When guys talk to me about football the only imput I have is " yeah, or tell me about it " I feel like a dumb loser if I have to play football or talk about it with other people, It's pretty embarasing because people just assume based on my build must be great at football, and know alot about it.

I know the rules of football and now how's it's played with regards to 1st down, 2nd down, how many yards til another 1st down.... how many points a touch down are worth...etc.

only reason I know about football cuz as a kid my older bro would force me to play "Madden 95" with him on the nintendo 64 icon_lol.gif

he forced me to play with him. Of course I almost always lost, but it helped me learn to understand football.

You're right but it just feels like I am kinda left out, when my friends or co-workers want to talk about that stuff

Only thing I know about it is words I hear on the radio or evening news (Tebow, Brady etc ad nauseam)

Otherwise, I couldn't care less about football.

Football players on the other hand...

I'll admit that I know just about zip about football, although I have enjoyed going to a few HS/College/Pro games over the years, my last one being a pre-season Denver Broncos game a couple years ago - great fun - but i still had no idea really of what in the hell was going on.

My current BF is an ex-college footballer, and pretty much, football is his life (when he's not snowboarding or with me). Tonight is going to be interesting - I know he wants to see me, and Sunday evening is a fairly standard 'date night' for the two of us, but the draw of being at a sports bar with his football buddies to watch the Super Bowl may be more than he can resist. And I'm OK with that!

We both get off our respective jobs at 5 or so, and I have a feeling we're gonna have a talk....I'm actually up for going to a sports bar with him to watch, but his buddies are so hard-core about football, I don't think they're really gonna be into having me around and explaining things...

Isn't football the game where you play 3 periods, and if you get 3 strikes, you're out?

I'm watching today mainly to see the commercials!!

I didn't enjoy it until I sat myself down and did some wiki research on the basics. It becomes exciting and gets your testosterone going with all the other men in the room.

I don't know much about it either, and what I do know makes most sports meaningless.

If I'm not out there having fun, why should I watch other people have fun? I'll just go do something else.

My son, you have absolution from someone who started playing it at eight years old. Go in peace and watch the Puppy Bowl. icon_cool.gif

I played football for 3 years, and i know very little about it as well. Turned off by football, feels too slow paced for me because of how they need to reset after every play, kind of why watching sports, and playing the video games feel so boring to me. Dont feel bad, i was surrounded by family and friends obsessed with sports. Yay, superbowl day, excess food and drink. Just cheer when the others cheer.

Football is such a boring sport. Ten seconds of action and then they go to commercial break or talk about the statistics. It's not even like soccer or tennis, where they can get some good volleying going back and forth between players. Those uniforms cover up anything good for the most part aside from maybe calves.

More than anything else though, the environment of forced masculinity and cultural hyperstimulation and overconsumption turns me off.

It's funny when people who know every last detail about an actor or singer think it's creepy that someone knows every last detail about an athlete.

I find the game much more interesting.
The chess game is about the team, not an individual piece.

[Which is obviously why I'm not in marketing.]

Been in your shoes ill just be direct and say I play other sports.

Me not a worshiper of football nor soccer, worst watching people playing it I rather be in the game seriously. I find the game boring and all the dramas, other then that the intensity is there and depends the players you play with.

I rather watch Formula 1 race! icon_wink.gif soo much of the excitement and strategic planing, and the velocity of the race keeps my adrenalin and testosterone higher.

Any Formula 1 freak here? icon_biggrin.gif

If you're still in that situation just Google perhaps and know the ABCs of football that all, yess be yourself!

It's not a big deal man, it's just not your interest.

I don't know shit about cars but everyone assumes I do because I'm male.
