News reports that a man went overboard from the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas are now including that it is on an all-gay Atlantis charter of the world's largest passenger ship and that that the man intentionally jumped overboard from his stateroom balcony.

    Man jumped from gay cruise

I seem to remember guys on here talking about going on this cruise.

Some of this story makes no sense to me.

A guest witnessed it - and what happened then?

He reported it. The captain confirmed it on security video. They called everyone to muster stations at 6:30am to count all passengers. When the man couldn't be found, they dropped boats to look for him. The Mexican Coast Guard also helped look for him. AFAIK, he still hasn't been found and likely didn't survive.

The January cruise is well known as the party cruise. I wonder if drugs played a part in it.

Some people who go on Atlantis cruises complain that all the beautiful, fit party boys don't give them the time of day. I routinely see accusations of age-ism, looks-ism, etc. Perhaps he was one of those folks with low self-esteem and finally gave up?

Or maybe he just didn't have an outfit for the white party.

" British man jumps from Allure of the Seas Atlantis charter in apparent suicide. I think there are RJ guys on this sailing! "

Have you read some of the posts here? They probably bullied him to death.

Oh, and I love how the story paints us as drug dealing ship jumpers...

"In November of last year, an American man was jailed for selling drugs on the Allure of the Seas from what the sentencing judge termed an “apothecary” in his cabin.

Steven Krumholz, 51, from California, was found with more than 142 ecstasy pills, methamphetamine, a small amount of ketamine, and about $51,000 (£31,000) in cash.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 21 months in prison for dealing drugs to fellow passengers on the gay cruise.
    "

Because, you know, whenever you write a story about a sad suicide in 2012, you never fail to mention a drug bust from the previous year.

Or it was just after 12pm, maybe he didn't like what they were serving for lunch.

Probably drug related. Like, why would you pay all that money to go on a cruise and then jump off. icon_eek.gif

I went on a cruise ONCE and a week after being in our inside stateroom, and listening to "It's gonna be aight" (our Jamacian emcee's version of Bob Marley) I wanted to throw myself over the railing too.. The cherry on top of my personable cruise experience was getting robbed in Cabo and spending the entire day with armed guards until our ship left. Fun fun fun! icon_neutral.gif

Not surprising the kid didn't take the time to think rationally though, half the patrons on these things are so loaded out of their minds with either drugs or alcohol, (because there's nothing else to do but eat), that they don't even know their still on vacation.

Maybe he thought it through and decided to max out his credit cards with an expensive vacation around the world. A final "fuck you" to the world he no longer wished to be a part of...

I was following someone's Twitter feed who was a passenger on the Allure... it said they were looking for glitter in the water.

The ship's name was clearly a contributory factor. Might I suggest they rename her the Allure of The Cabin?
