icon_cry.gifI went over to my best buddies house to watch the super bowl, and he text-ed me jokingly before hand asking who I would root for, and I text-ed back saying I plead the 5th on this one. His son is a big Pats fan and he supported the team for his son.....however I'm a Colts fan and and so I cannot support a rival team that's the Colt's arch-nemesis. Kinda like the rivalry between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Well after the game....he through an unholy fit throwing things and the like, and said some really hateful shit toward me. It can't deny it, it fucking hurt and cut me to the quip. We've been best buds for almost 12 years.I'm a dad myself and he accused me of not being a supportive father with his son's teams. (Hard to do when your son doesn't lose gracefully). I did not know that the team that I picked to win and actually won would be as disappointing as a loss. He apologized through a text, but I really don't want to talk to him for a while. I did respond by texting.......really dude, it was a only a football gameicon_exclaim.gif
Just thought I needed to get that off my chest.

You're right. It is just a football game. The man was being a child. What lesson does this teach his son?

Text him this message: "Tom Brady is the most over-rated QB in football history. The only reason they won their first two Superbowls was because of the defense."

Women generally have trouble understanding football. Just dont stand in front of the TV, bring the men another beer, and STFU.

I do not understand why some people get dangerously violent over a sports game. If you lost, I understand you don't feel happy.

However, how does destroying property and assaulting people fix one's problems other than getting one's self thrown in jail and/or fines?

Given that the ball was handled by a Michigan Man on almost every single down (except place kicks), I was happy. Given that the big (essentially game-winning) catch was made by Manningham... that was the icing.

The commercials were pretty good, too.

See? Maybe he should teach his son to look for the silver lining.

I understand sports, cuntfish. It's the ridiculous amount of energy/passion/emotion that some guys put into it that doesn't make sense.
The only reason would be that males are raised with a "boys don't cry" mentality and the only socially acceptable way for them to express emotion is through sports, therefore they cling on to sports for dear life because it's their only chance to cry.
Poor egotistical douchebags. I pity them.

LOL Really? I think you knew what you were getting into before you went there. He asked who you were cheering for and you chose not to disclose it. Therefore, you got exactly what you deserve.

yes i am fucking serious. spoken like someone who has probably never been passionate about nothing but dick in your life. i am sorry i did not mean to be such a dick about it. but they told him that his son is a big and offered him a way out by telling him this. if he knew he was not a fan than he should not have went over or at least acted as if he had no concern about won or lost. if it was just a game than he should not have gotten upset about being called out about cheering against his team.

He knew damn well going in that I'm no NE fan....before he even asked...icon_rolleyes.gif
....therefore I beg to differ....I just didn't expect such a explosive reaction, not to mention being personally attacked by a friend that I've hung out exclusively with for 12 years. It's just a bummer when it comes from one you least expect it from. Thanks for the salt.....felt good in the wound.

Either you are far to sensitive and fragile to be around a sports fan deeply routed to his team or you have a serious lack of judgement when choosing friends and can easily fooled for over a decade.

I actually dont know which one is worse.

I am a Cowboys fan (hence my screen name). My entire family are Giants fans. My best friend is a Giants fan. I lived in NYC and had to suffer going to see the Cowboys in Giants stadium. I have thrown things at times and screamed at the TV. I have given shit to all my family and friends as they have given to me. My friend rubbed it in my face Sunday because he knows how much I hate the Giants. Thats what fans do. Its not something you go home and whine about. Its trash talking. Thats what fans do.

GAME? ....I was in the gym last night trying to figure out why it was so empty.....I guess I either have different priorities in life or I am actually a chick.....I don't bleed once a month, so I must have different priorities.......and you are right...It's just a game.....and maybe get some parenting classes or grow up instead of just getting older...... to your friend. Bad example for a child.icon_rolleyes.gif

The guy hates to lose and I can totally understand that if he is truly a big fan of the team, but it sounds like he's just more of a casual fan.

I'm passionate about fashion, but I don't get bent out of shape because people like Jeremy Scott even though I think his shit is ugly with basic concepts and don't like Walter Van Beirendonck even though his collections are clearly superior.
People don't get THAT bent out of shape about TV, movie, or music choices either. Nobody tells somebody that they aren't father material if they don't let their friend's son eat pasta even though he wants pizza.
Why are sports such a big fuckin' deal?

Well, I think you left out some of the details about what went on between before the game when you pleaded the 5th and the end of the game. If you were openly cheering against the Pat, shit like this can happen, unfortunately. That was an incredibly close game and probably pretty fucking stressful. If you don't have a team in the fight, sometimes its best just to not cheer against someone and let them deal with the loss. Testosterone is a powerful hormone that can take over.

My advice, accept his apology, take a break from each other until you can fully calm down and then hang out together again.
