....And came out to her; she didn't even bat an eyelash.

All she said that if I felt that way, then that's how it is. As long as I am her grandson it didn't matter and loves me just as the same.

She is the first family member I've come out to. I've always been indifferent in regards to my sexuality with most people. But when comes to my family especially my cultural background, its quite tricky.

We had a very frank discussion. Nobody got emotional and just talked about life in general. I've always known she was very strong willed wise woman. She says this world is advancing and while its good to keep the faith. To be a good human being to each other and the place we live in is the most important.

She knows that under my circumstances I can not disclose anything to my family yet. Until I have established myself without an form of tether, she (and grand dad) will remain tight lipped whenever my mum brings me up in the subject matter (usually having to do with marriage stuff icon_razz.gif)

So there you have it. I always love my maternal grandmother and the beautiful soul that she has.

Oh the last thing before I left their place...Don't hook up with any weirdos!! LOL

    Bless her

that's a really awesome story. My gran took it with only minor difficulty (whereas my interior designer mother isn't really all that keen on it) and ironically my dad really never had much of an issue with it from what i can recall (aside from pressing about whether i was sure) possibly because he had a gay uncle growing up.

Awww icon_smile.gif I'm so happy for you, that was definitely a nice read !

It remembers me of my own grandma. This christmas, it was the first time I ever brought a "boyfriend" at the family dinner, and I came out to my family during 2011, so it was a first for everyone... I was nervous, especially about my grandmother, I didn't know how she would react and behave.

Sooo, she acted pretty much like always, but I wasn't sure if there was any shyness/embarassment in the air.

When my grandma was going home, I went to kiss her goodbye, she then told me, with a huge smile : "Well, that's a pretty handsome boyfriend you have !".

I was kinda icon_eek.gif at first, but in a very good way. I wasn't expecting that at all, and I was sooooo happy. That had just totally made my night. icon_biggrin.gif

Your grandmother sounds like a terrific lady. I'm glad you have her in your life.

My grandparents were cool with my sexuality too............and I was lucky to be raised by them from the age of nine. They're gone now, and I miss them every day.

Grandparents are one of life's great gifts. For those of you who still have them, take time to talk and listen about any topic at all. They have so much to offer and so often we busy kids do not realize it.

Congratulations, fivealive. You are a lucky guy.

congrats, my grandma on my mom side is like that, she would never say anything bad or harmful, always smiling and caring. She doesnt give 2 fucks about stupid shit.

My grandma on my dads side however would literally tell me she would never want to see me again if she found out. And theres a huge difference in the type of children they have.

This brought a smile to my face. It's fantastic!

My grandma tells me things like "you're looking well" and "you've filled out" which I take as code for "you're getting fat" icon_smile.gif

She's my only remaining grandparent (well, probably, but that's a long story), but I can't bring myself to tell her. She's quite old fashioned in her values and I'm worried I'd alienate her, on top of the fact that I'm on the other side of the world and don't see her very often anyway...
