Your participation in a research project is requested. This study is seeking Gay men and Lesbian women, 18 years of age with either previous or current experience with Christian religion or spirituality. Although many of you are not Gay or Lesbian, you do have connections with individuals who are eligible for this study. Please, take a moment to forward this to your friends or if you are eligible take the survey. The title of the study is “The relationship Between Faith Maturity Development and Internalized Homonegativity”. The study is seeking information that will be useful in the fields of Psychology of Human Sexuality and the Psychology of Religion. The aims of the research are to examine internalized homonegativity and faith maturity. If you decide to participate in this research, you will be asked to do the following: Answer the questions on the following scales as appropriate: Reactions to Homosexuality Scale, the Lesbian Internalized Homonegativity Scale, the Faith Maturity Scale, and a Demographics Scale. The questionnaire is estimated to take no more than 30 minutes to complete.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the study or your participation in the study, you may contact me, William Skelton by email at william.skelton@mymail.barry.edu

    Hi William:

You might also want to reach out to the Gay Christian Network and Evangelical Network to their members.

Good luck with your search project.icon_biggrin.gif

Just finished it - though I could not understand the correlation of the poverty and social justice to sexuality and religion - maybe is just me.

Just did it. I felt like the questions being asked were made by someone deeply religious. Also the last question didn't make sense in the context of the participant being atheist or just non-church going.

Looked like questions 34 & 36 were the same, about liking to pray with others, I think. And the religions listed that one has changed to didn't include the MCC, which ministers to the GLBT community. (I still would have left that answer blank - N/A)

Questionnaire completed. Three items raised questions:

    10. It would be harder in life to be a homosexual male.

Would? Harder than what? Harder than being a heterosexual male?

    23. Homosexuality is not against the will of God.
    24. Homosexuality is morally acceptable.

Does "Homosexuality" refer to the orientation or to the sexual activity?

    Thanks. Good luck.

Everyone's a scientist, lol. Good distinctions on orientation/identity vs. sexual activity. The study is for gay males and lesbian women (i.e., those who self identify as a sexual minority), not specifically for men who have sex with men.

Thank you for noticing that. The site was having issues with the question randomizer. All is well now.

I forgot to mention there is a "Non-affiliated" option, which in this case takes the place of N/A.

Question. If one puts down a belief as "atheist" or agnostic or spiritual for the last couple of questions, how can one respond regarding one's choice of faith and the receptiveness of its members? I mean, sure atheists might regard all atheists as their denomination, but couldn't it be worded a bit better?

Unfortunately, its just an awkward situation. Provision in data processing will be made for how the wording messes with that specific group.
