Hey. Drive-in theaters are magical places.

Yes, they are! My parents used to load us all up and head to the drive in movie theater every Fri, Sat, and sometimes Sunday too!
We somehow used to sit through Triple features....icon_eek.gif
There is one Drive Thru left in Tucson I know of, and even then its just an improvised back lot of a local movieplex... I miss the old set ups and comfort of the old stuff... wish there was one I could go on an old fashioned date with a guy. That's an Ideal date for me; making the moves or not. icon_twisted.gif

    Drive In?
Are you on crack? How many drive ins are left in the US? Wishful thinking, bud.

There's one near where I grew up in Western New York. My parents took me to see Bambi and The Creature From The Black Lagoon there. I still have the 3-D glasses from the latter.

I'll make you one! Seriously, I had enough money to buy a yacht; I'd build nostalgic things that meant something to people in their youth, and open them back up at reasonable prices with all the same retro amenities. There would be movie theme nights throughout the month, like: horror, comedy, drama, silent film, gay movie, documentary, musical, and locally/regionally made movie nights! I'd would be about the movies and not JR's Movie Theater... cause people want the movies!

TheGuyNextDoor saidI have wondered what I would be like today to go to a Drive-In Movie theater with our new cars and comforts. I bet the sound box that hung on the inside of the windows would be amazing now! THX,,, Dolby Drive-In! Yeah, baby. I'm in!

Been a few years since I went, but you didn't use a box. You tuned your car radio to a certain channel they operated, and listened over your own speakers, where is much better than a box on one side of the car.

But now that I think about it, our car doesn't have an accessory position on the ignition switch. The radio plays for 10 minutes after the ignition is switched off, or until a door is opened, whichever occurs first. You have to turn the ignition back on for a second to reset the 10-minute timer. The power windows and sunroof operate the same way.

Are other newer cars like this? Maybe we would have to go back to the old boxes. Except modern windows are much thinner now for lightness, and lack the metal strip on top that many once had, as well. Maybe boxes are out, too?

TheGuyNextDoor saidI'm pretty sure in this day and time they could give you a Bluetooth box that you sat on the dash of your car and it would sound amazing!
Turn it in on your way out or leave it hanging on the pole just outside your window.
Don't mind me... I be dreamin'
Or have it come out of the speakers of your own car... unless that is what you're talking about... either way, so cool!

In a perfect world, drive-ins and their incredible exploitation movies would return to us.

I mean, if a guy took me to see Deathstalker or Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity, I would belong to him.

Be careful if you're at the drive-in with TGND...You'll innocently reach over for some popcorn and next thing you know.....icon_eek.gif

drive ins now use short range radio, so you listen on your car stereo

surprisingly there are actually lots of drive ins around if you look for them.

1.5% of screens in america are still drive ins
