So this is embrassing but I have stretch marks on my stomach arms and thighs due to the medication I took for a condition I have. I work out regularly and Im not overweight I eat healthy whole grains, fruits vegtables, Ive tried bio oil, lotions, creams, vitamin E,coco butter, olive oil etc. I cant afford laser treatment or a dermatoglist.I'm willing to try anything really? Does anyone have stretch marks or know of a proven way to get rid of them?? Any help would be most appericated I'm getting discouraged I know it bothers me more then others.

I can bet they bother you far less than they would bother anyone else. Wear them proudly.
In my opinion that would not make someone undatable.

well if it helps, using a combination vitamin E lotion and bio-oil will help reduce the redness of stretch marks and maybe minimise the actual stretch marks just a little.
As far as I have heard they are pretty much permanent, but they do fade over time, the topical treatment will just make that faster.

Also MikemikeMike, I'm glad you said that about stretch marks not making someone undatable. That comforts me to know that there are people who can look beyond particular aesthetics of the body.

Hope I helped, but honestly you are who you are so if some guy says or thinks you're not good enough because of stretch marks, really isn't worth your time at all.

I have stretch marks from lifting where my arm and chest meet. From what I hear they're scars, and they never fully go away. Ask a doctor maybe?

I have them on the sides of my hips. And they change colour too.

I think of them as my tiger stripes. They aren't even on the top 10 things I would change about my body though, so I can't give suggestions.

Try coco butter. My roomie told me that thats what he uses, and I tried it. They are more than barely noticeable now

Laser treatment is the only way to really get rid of them from what I read online.
Take a multivitamin though to prevent them in the future. Proper nutrition will help your body heal better so that stretch marks don't form in the first place.

You can get these gel sheets from the chemist that you stick to your scar and help stretch the tissue so it flattens and reduces the appearance but they are expensive and must be used nightly for a few months depending on the scar. They're reusable until they lose their adhesion but cost around $80-$100. They are generally for raised scars and I guess stretch marks are raised.

Bio oil apparently helps quite a lot but I haven't been using it twice daily with massage like it says you should be, only as a moisturiser. Any oils and massaging the area can help.
I have small stretch marks under my arms and large ones on the side of my arse cheeks. Those kind of look like tiger stripes but I don't like them.

Maybe you can try to match your skin tone to them so they won't be as visible? If they're lighter than most of your skin then avoid sunlight and see if going pale makes a difference.

Thanks guys appericate the suggestions means alot to know there guys out there who see beyond that and have stretch marks too. I have used bio oil before. I do take multi vitamins eat very healthy very little fast food.
Been putting Vitamin e on them and they have ups and downs one day there red next there less noticable.
I also take a water pill which helps reduce the inflamtion of the tissue.I use palmers cocoa butter formula. Ive used straight coco butter in its solid form you can buy it at vitamin cottage it loses its solid warm when you put it in your hands
.I've even used olive oil and egg whites as werid as that sounds. What does seem to work is hair folical solution by nioxin it tingles on contact a few friends one of whom was pregent said it works wonders. Also heard lavender oil, apriocot oil works, the list goes on and on. My Dr said working out will help but I have been and running my body likes to retain water too.

I don't know how to get rid of them, but I know how to prevent them: Lose weight SLOWLY.
I lost 70 lbs over the course of 1.5 yrs and still don't have a single stretch mark.

there isn't a way to get rid of them besides surgery.

The oils, vitamins, rubs, what have you don't really do anything besides make the person think they are doing something about them.

Laser surgery has been shown to be effective in reducing the appearance by a small percentage but it's long and expensive and results can be unimpressive.

The best you can hope for is that when your skin stops stretching they will fade in time and become less noticeable.

If you have them from excess fat gains they will fade significantly when you've lost the weight, same from rapidly gaining muscle mass, although they will fade when you've stopped putting on muscle.

Enjoy them, they are marks from what ever point in your life caused them.

I have them under my arms, behind my knees, on my hips and a few other ones here and there.

It's just how the body works and they aren't unsightly, they are just there.

Most of the guys I know who got rid of their stretchmarks did so through divorce. icon_confused.gif

    Hahahahaha....

I have them from gaining and losing weight. I had massive amounts to lose.

I have been told - which I have ordered some - to try those creams that women use after pregnancy to reduce the visibility of theirs. - It will not make them go away, just reduce their visibility.

    It's worth a shot.

Bio-oil definitely reduced my sun damage on my nose (almost gone) but took a year (60ml). I'm still on the fence about whether I think it's working for my shoulder acne scars. Think so (hope so=) Impressed by the nose thing because that hadn't improved in years (got bad sun face burn in Australia at 26).

They don't go away. Unless you surgically remove them or maybe get some serious form of dermabrasion therapy.

That said... they really do bother you much more than anyone else notices. I have stretch marks too... I lost 100 lbs, so yeah: there was damage. But if you live your life as though they don't matter, then they don't matter. I've only had one guy even notice I had them and he assumed it was because I lift so much.
