As I’ve said many times, it’s great to get out of your comfort zone once in a while. Makes you stronger. Dive right into the belly of the beast. Plus, best way to affect change. Problem is that I’m plenty comfortable. It’s the Ron Paul supporters who would drive me nuts.

"Comfort level" = amount of self-hatred

No, because there are a lot of tolerant people who go too. I just won't attend an event that officially bans an organization from attending because of their orientation. It's absurd.

Plus, who wants to be around "Family Research Council" people?

I wouldn't go just because of all the water balloons being dropped from hotel balconies. Oh, and the fezzes look ridiculous.

Nuttin quite like those ‘hospitality’ workers.

Why not? How do expect to affect change if you don't engage? Tony Perkins is quite approachable.

I doubt you'll be able to change his mind with how involved he has gotten already in bashing gay people:

Don't need to as long as you continue to support people and organizations that are avowedly anti-gay.

I'd be most willing to give it a try. We agree on most everything else. I have a pretty long history of party activism so no one doubts my conservatism. .

But again listen to what Dick Cheney had to say. What has more affect. Cheney saying that or folks like C73 spewing their hate?

freedomisn'tfree, we agree on a lot economically, but I have to agree with Christian here. You chose Santorum as one of your "ideal" presidential picks, and he's basically the most openly anti-gay candidate in the entire republican party. I'm not sure how you justify that? He doesn't just oppose gay marriage, he thinks that it's an abnormality and that compared same sex marriage to beastiality and incest.

    1) how serious do you think I was?

    2) No one said you have to agree with me on everything. In fact I'd be real worried about your mental health if you did icon_wink.gif

Well, I was hoping you were joking but it didn't seem like it. There are so many candidates one could choose as an ideal candidate, it seemed absurd that you would think Santorum would be.

I have met actual gay self-haters before, it's not too uncommon. Sadly, most of the self-haters I know happen to be gay conservatives -- but definitely not all.

I'm still wondering why he did that.

When you were here as OldGeezer. You weren't shy about it, either.

You should by now realize that many of us on RJ remember you quite well. When you returned you were considerably milder and I decided everyone deserves a second chance, so I struck up a friendly banter with you.

    Now now, don't get stuck.

You were OldGeezer, and I'm not the only one that remembers you well.

Here, I'll find an excuse for you: in the heat of one of your fights where you were calling Art and Christian, Bobbi and Christy you stated you'd voted for prop 8, likely in a fit of anger to get at them.

    Feel better now?
