Change Of Diet ... For Energy And Motivation

So I used this alternative body scan that a family doctor uses.. its not a medical device, but an alternative therapy-system, claiming to identify problem areas in your environment and diet that effect your health personally.. a scan showed that I had problems with roasted foods, fried foods, and carbohydrates, especially gluten containing foods and white rice..

This came as a total shock to me, because i always ate those foods profusely,.. being an ectomorph and hoping to gain weight that way... After the scan, I immediately cut them out of my diet and began to focus on a lot of cooked, baked and raw vegetables and meats...

I had lost weight many months ago after a bout of mononucleosis.. within days of changing my diet, I gained 2 kilos.. and I mean just DAYS!!! Only a few days in I had much better energy levels.. whereas since the mono, I had not had the energy to train anymore and when I went to the beach, I would laze around in an armchair under a coconut tree.....

now, within days of the diet change I was at the beach and started to do yoga, breakdance, capoeira, pilates on the beach, swimming, and all that other stuff i used to do before the disease .. Suddenly I had energy and everything.. Even my friends and family are saying since the diet change I LOOK better too...

So not only did the diet analysis help me to gain weight, it helped me get energy back, and keeps my digestive system happy, so I have the motivation to exercise, I just feel generally better, am more resistent to stress, etc.... I used to drink a lot of ginger and mint teas for digestion after a meal... but i don't even need them anymore icon_smile.gif

Only once after the diet switch, i tried an old staple of mine and ate a plate of pasta..., for hours after I could just FEEL my digestive system groaning..!!... I had never noticed that before, because I had never tried cutting those foods out of my diet in the first place....... my stomach feels so much better now following the rules.. to a level I did not know was possible evem!

I know I sound like a west coast hippy (lol), but i would recommend everybody to look at their own digestive system and find out where its sensitive... Its different for everybody, but I highly recommend doing it for ALL the benefits icon_smile.gif Remember that the above scan applied only to me... other people may have completely different problems, for instance with processed salts or sugars... both of which I am fine with.. its individual, but I'm pretty sure you wont be sorry if you try ;)

how does this body scan work? You swallow a pill with a camera in it? Or is it a scan like at the airports?

Srsly? You believe a device can scan you and tell you the "problem areas in your environment and diet..."?

Eating more veggies is going to increase your nutrient intake and give you more energy. Meat is great source of B12 that is important in energy production and good health.

Carbs are notorious for making your tired and sluggish.

It doesnt take a gizmo to make these recommendations. You got pwned.

No carbs, no fried food, no roasted food - ever?

Damn, I thought I maintained a strict diet but you should be able to enjoy food once in a while.

It could technically just the gluten you were eating. Have you tried eating fried/roasted foods that are not made of wheat? Do you have the same reaction while eating rice?

I know that when I cut out gluten, the effects were miraculous. Higher energy levels, no digestion problems, the hives and rashes I had disappeared in days, my skin was gorgeously clear and glowing, I never came down with a cold or flu since then, I lost fat and gained in muscle despite a total abandonment of lifting and working out...

I know that it wasn't carbs in general. I can eat white rice with little to no "heavy" or sleepy feeling. Same with potatoes, and sweet potatoes. Sorghum and millet flour are fine with me. I can also eat nuts and seeds with no problems either.

I have gone to a holistic doctor before. While it was great that they first taught me the connection between diet and health (this back in the 90's, before any of this was trendy or cool) the methods are hokey at best in my opinion.

Something as simple as my body not being able to tolerate wheat/gluten was misconstrued into a hundred different other things, including avoiding dairy products (which I can eat with no consequence now) taking hundreds of dollars of pills, drops, and homeopathic remedies, and all this other bullshit.

Without strong scientific evidence to back it up, I won't be believing holistic doctors anymore. Occam's razor is usually the result in what I've found...

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidMost of the modern literature nowadays touts that grains and wheat products are the culprits for a lot of nasty health annoyances.

And the addition of dark greens and many vegetables and fruits are the way to help restore balance. When I watched that video on NES it gave me the impression of information that I can find in so many books now in print. I have a book currently checked out from the local library titles The UltraMind Soultion. It basically advocates a gluten free diet, eat plenty of foods high in omega 3.

Seems like so much of the newer diet approaches for better health have a Paleo base to them. It makes sense since grains were not manufactured in abundance until after the Industrial Revolution. Then from that point we've had an increase in chronic diseases that are more than likely diet related. At least in the U.S.

Aren't complex carbs supposed to be one of the best sources of long-lasting energy though?

What is the point of life if we only do what is good for us?

Eating sensibly must be better than denying yourself all the great foods in life.

Your strict dietary regime must be good for your health, but sounds a little too boring to make most people happy.

Yeah, because being bloated, lethargic and fat is SUCH fun. Let´s just eat what the hell we like - if it makes you "happy".
