We don't need this [smiley faces] weepy [pixie dust].

Gay marriage is an issue of the LAW, RIGHTS, and the CONSTITUTION

Blubbering like an insipid white Liberal does not help us.

It's not about LOVE, it's about LEGALITY.

[peace signs] the crybaby pussified [pinkish potpourri] - that's for [kittens and hearts] white Liberals.

As a side note, I didn't need the visual caused by her reference to her sexual needs.

Heavens to murgatroid. Why is it that just because I do not have access to a thing thats now called by many as Gay Marriage, feel second hand, less loved. Well I don't feel second hand, or that my love beholds no less validation, than an others. No I feel whole and very loved, and if one was to ever marry it would not be a thing called a gay wedding, it would just be a wedding, and not a gay marriage, just married. I don't have a gay dog, or drive a gay care, nor live in a gay house in a very gay suburb.

Narr give us Civil Unions, and not Gay Marriage, because with gay marriage everything will be lost on the fact it's a gay wedding and not just a wedding. But......rather a Ceremony Committing to each other. No one is so at peace being a Bona Fide Homosexual, I do not need access to the hetrosexual intuition of marriage to feel whole or loved as I am already both.

It is unfortunate that you, the OP, have such a tight arse that you can not allow another person to express some heart felt emotion. Wow, did you have a problem with potty training as a child?

My liberal heart bleeds for certain culturally conservative Republicans. Between this video and Bill O'Reilly supporting JC Penny's using Ellen as spokesperson---

Must be tough for them to know who and how to hate.

I have no problem with her expressing emotion. But the floor of the legislature is not the place to do it.

On the legal and legislative front, the gay marriage issue requires REASON above all else, and not displays of emotion.

Everyone may feel differently about it. But this goes beyond GAY - it's about equal protection, the Rule of Law, and constitutional rights.

I do agree - feeling loved, being at "peace," feeling "whole" have no place in a discussion about rights.

The Law is cold, rational, and detached, and should not be infected with the emotional flavor of the moment.

I think she gave a wonderful and heart felt speech. She put a human face to those who do not have the humanity and love for the minority. She is in a position where she can say something positive.

I do understand that the law doesn't have or like a place of an emotional stance, but my thought to the OP... If she changed one persons mind about the equality of marriage, she made great change with true feelings. Maybe that's what people need to see more than an argument that is cold and angry. People can sympathize more when there is real emotion.

I hope there is more people like her on the floor

She wasn't tearing up over gay marriage, she was tearing up while sharing a story about her deceased husband. Lighten up Francis, my mom passed away recently and I tear up when I talk about her too. If you called me names for that I would kick your ass.

The lady that was speaking spoke from the heart. I believe that, eventually, even GOP nut cases will have to hate on someone else because of folks like the lady here saying their hating is stupid. Embarrass them.

Folks, she talked about the fact that her daughter is gay. Albeit that she wondered off on the way she loved her deceased husband trying to make the point that we should all love and be allowed to love.

Understand, ignorant folks are ignorant of the fact they are ignorant.

Gay marriage is a social issue. All laws that are social issues revolve around what's "right." I fail to see the logic in your all logic answer. What makes this different than laws involving animal cruelty? Laws involving Segregation? Laws involving sexual harassment? The list goes on and on and on...

Your argument that her using her emotions is invalid...is invalid. If people like her don't come out and talk, we'd still have segregation. We'd still not allow women to vote. Women would still not be allowed in the army. Animal cruelty wouldn't even be a term...

What starts the spark for what defines "legality" if not for emotion and moral outrage?

Placing more human faces to it serves to back up the logic that the right wing nutjobs refuse to acknowledge..

And how you can find the gall to mock anyone who has the courage to stand up against her typical party's line and to humble herself in such a way to put herself in such a vulnerable position in order to fight for your rights is completely and utterly beyond me.
