Wow. Cool Chipotle commercial with animation. Sorta hoped it would be a support your farmers promo, though.

Couldn't believe nicki Minaj didn't win best new artist, then she did that mess of a performance and answered the question.

I thought Katy Perry was awful....Rhianna lip syching and too many old artists like Paul McCartney and the Beach Boys

best performances were Adele and the tributes...Etta James by Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt and Jennifer Hudson singing Whitney.

I like the Nicki Minaj song, it was all over the place and so bizarre but thats why I liked it

Pretty boring besides Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, Adele, and the tribute by Jennifer Hudson.

Performances like the ones I saw today make you realize that so many of the big artists don't really have much talent.

Jennifer Hudson's high notes for the tribute were kind of bad. Like, she barely hit them.

i don't get all the rave about jennifer hudson's performance. it wasn't very impressive. i mean it was good for a person singing a song but just ok for a person who sings for a living.

    adele was great tho.

+100 I loved her voice...she was on point vocal wise but it was like 45 seconds long....damn could they not have had her at least sing the whole song? Adele was amazing though!

It wasn't that bad. She was just putting her own spin into it.
And besides, Whitney just died yesterday. She probably practiced just this morning...

I loved that it was more understated than belt-y/diva-esque, especially considering this was organized on such short notice and she was obviously very emotional. For a tribute, it felt very appropriate considering Whitney has not even been dead 48 hours

If JHud came out and belted everything outta the park (like she can and does), it could have been seen as tacky, self-promoting, and like she was trying to outdo Whitney.

with you on this one. i thought her performance was really good AND she looked smashing ( and I am NOT a JHud fan in the least)

Adele was great, but was a bit off vocally which is expected after so much time off. She's such a great soul. Her interview on 60 Minutes prior to the telecast made me just love the person, in addition to loving the singer. And her new boyfriend is a dork, which is so adorable icon_lol.gif

oh i am pretty confident that this isn't the first time that jennifer hudson has sung the song. i was singing the song when i was in grade school and can still sing it word for word til this day, granted i sound like a cat being strangled, i still know the notes and lyrics. I would think that she sang it a hell of a lot more times than i did. i also don't know about the whole emotional thing. i think anyone who went up on stage to mention whitney houston's name is smart enough to look sad. I would imagine her being an actress that she had coaching on how to be emotional in the past. Not to say she isn't sad about it but probably only as much as you and i. perhaps a tad bit more but probably not devastated.

i think it was mainly because the grammys was rushing to find a popular black female singer that can actually sing so they defaulted to Jennifer Hudson (Mariah Carey isn't dark enough). I think it just wasn't a song for her so it was just an okay performance. Perhaps under the time and emotional circumstances it was a great performance. but thats kinda like cheering for the first place winner of the special olympics marathon. its great that you were the fastest 1 mile runner but it still took you 5 hours to complete the marathon.

Chaka Khan was supposed to sing in her place but she said she was too grief stricken...I would have personally liked to see Chaka do it.

I liked JHud's performance. Her voice is big enough for the song, but she did something more heartfelt.
