"The Democratic Party has a noble history of fighting for the human and civil rights of all Americans.

Living up to that legacy, Democratic lawmakers have provided the vast majority of the support for the freedom to marry in states and in Congress, even as ending exclusion from marriage increasingly is becoming a bipartisan cause.

Today, Freedom to Marry is calling on the national Democratic Party to make it official during its Convention in Charlotte this September, and add a marriage plank to the Party Platform. Our campaign is called Democrats: Say I Do.

Join Freedom to Marry in asking the Democratic Party to say "I do" to marriage for same-sex couples by signing our open letter:"

It will be interesting to see what the new Democratic party platform looks like after their convention this year.

It will be even more interesting to see what the REPUB party platform looks like after their convention.

Will the Repubs move in a more pro-gay direction - as some of our more delusional RJ Repub friends predict - or will the Repubs adopt Romney's Santorum's and Gingrich's stance on gay marriage?

Will the Repubs include a plank in their official party platform vowing party-wide support for amending the Constitution to permanently make gay marriage illegal IN ALL STATES?

"I already thought the democratic party was 100% on the side of gays.."

Mock that's mistaken thinking I often see conservatives make.

The Democratic party is simply more concerned about equal rights, which includes gays, than the Republican party, which is not.

FYI - the Democratic party platform contains no planks advocating anti-gay bigotry.
    The Repub party platform does.

And I WILL be "ASTONISHED" if the Repubs change their official party platform to make it less specifically anti-gay!
