I don't think they are improving. They are just trying to get away with whatever they feel they can get away with.
The FACTS prove that the Repub party is not improving.
The three front runners for the Repub nomination have adopted MORE hard line anti-gay policy stances than any previous Repub presidential nominees.
Santorum Romney and Gingrich have all signed a pledge vowing to work to AMEND THE CONSTITUTION to make gay marriage illegal nationwide.
If they were able to achieve their goal of taking the EXTREME step of amending the Constitution to make gay marriage illegal nationwide - all the states that currently allow gay marriage would be forced to stop doing so and no states would ever be able to start.
The Repubs want to take the extreme step of enshrining anti-gay bigotry in OUR CONSTITUTION .
They want to make gay Americans permanent second class citizens according to the Constitution!
Fuck them.
Bullshit, that's just the breath before the plunge. They are burning the last cartridges of the "old" GOP platform on gay rights.
That's delusional.
The young Repubs who don't advocate the anti-gay agenda of the official Repub party platform have ZERO power or influence in the current day Repub party.
The Repub party of today is totally controlled by the older generation of activist anti-gay extremists.
It will take years for the old anti-gay religious right Repubs to die off and be replaced by a new generation of Repubs who don't advocate an anti-gay agenda.
In the meantime we need to keep the Repubs from putting another anti-gay Repub in the White House.
If we can just keep the Repubs out of the White House for the next 2-3 elections - until the Repubs start putting forward presidential nominees who are pro-gay - we can keep the great progress we've seen in advancing gay rights moving forward!
