Suicide or Punishment?

I pretty much sit on my ass all day at work staring at my computer wondering where I went wrong in life. To bring the end of my work day closer I watch Fox News and come up with my own interpretations of what is going on in the world while keeping it fair and balanced. Right now, there are several fires ignited by lightning ravaging the NorCal landscape. The fires are releasing pollutants into the air creating breathing hazards. Has the Earth become aware of Al Gore's green crusade? Has the Earth decided it has had enough and is now committing suicide or is this God's response to the legalization of gay marriage in California?

I wouldn't read too much into forest fires that happen every year. While nature takes care of itself, I hardly think forest fires are the planets way of killing itself. Actually, those fires help create new growth and new life in our forests.

The same can not be said of the flames in the forums however

If you look for divine retribution, you will see it everywhere, anywhere.

Trust me, Earth is really not that special to merit wrath from the deity of a universe, if he exists that is. icon_cool.gif

Huh? The last sentence really lost me I must admit.

Human beings are not that special. If the life of the earth was a 9-inning baseball game, the time human beings having existed on this planet would not even equate to one pitch of the game.

Well I hope you are simply being sarcastic with your thread in some manner rather than being serious.

If serious, I'd suggest an attitude adjustment. I wouldn't end my work day "wondering where I went wrong" and to watch Fox wouldn't provide a fair or balanced look at anything. While we all have views of both the fires in California and of gay marriage, I doubt if they are linked for most grounded people.

A good adjustment recommended here might include where you go "right" in life and focus on the good things to your day...

I can tell you where you went wrong in life. Turn off Fox News. Watch CNN International, or BBC news. PBS is great for fair and balanced, if you must have that. The moderators let the liberals and conservatives talk in turn without interrupting and turning it into a theatrical bitchfest.

There is no God, so go ahead and get married.

The flooding in the midwest is God's punishment for their mistreatment of homosexuals and for not allowing homosexuals to marry. This is also true of why we're now losing more military personnel in Afghanistan and why the Iraq occupation is failing. If America treated her gay people better, gas prices would fall, George Bush would get an IQ and birds wouldn't shit on our car rooves.

Wait, you watch Fox News and you haven't figured out where you went wrong in life?

    Oh, the irony.

Seriously, i doubt god has enough time to worry about gay people getting married in california. I am sure he has more perplexing problems, like how to convince his flock that hating people is not what he meant when he said love thy neighbor, or how to convince his clergy that snogging little boys in the pulpit is not his idea of bringing people to the kingdom of god.

The earth has a way of cleansing itself. Another ice age will come along and lock all the carbon dioxcide away in ice and drop the tempurature levels the world over... many species will die, including us. Its just a matter of time. Live your life do not regret your life.
