WTF? As long as she continues to sell out shows and make music and bring crowds together, she has anything BUT a dead career!

I think if I were her banker I'd say it's alive and quite well! She has to be pulling in some serious money still, regardless of whether she's on the top of the charts or not.

How cool ... trending on Twitter. icon_rolleyes.gif

Doing a brief search on "RIP Madonna" shows a whopping 10 news articles on the topic (as of 5:54 p.m. eastern) from fine news outlets like Hindustan Times. icon_lol.gif Apparently, this RIP Madonna thing was started by Gaga fans. It appears to have fallen on its face while Madonna's sales are doing quite well.

She was just ranked #1 in the 100 Greatest Women in Music. Her download sales have increased 77% in the last week. And she just sold our 65,000 concert tickets in Quebec in 20 minutes. I'm sure the list goes on and on, lol. Her career isn't dead.

Edit: She also has a new album, and greatest hits album coming out next month, doesnt she? icon_neutral.gif

Edit again: And she just performed at the freakin' Superbowl and won an Oscar or some shit. K, i'm done. icon_eek.gif

Yeah we've never heard this shit before..............icon_rolleyes.gif

Lets see, we've had Cyndi Lauper, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and now Lady Gaga.

None of them have had the same success for so long or had the same cultural impact ( Gaga's young, so we'll see if she has the drive to sustain a 25 year career but she's fragile).

This Twitter trending shit is just the result of parasocial manipulation by a very clever woman.

Madonna's career will be over when she decides to stop making music but not before. She has no equal currently alive and she's truly in a league of her own ( pun intended icon_biggrin.gif

Wow i almost thought Madonna was actually dead, pardon me!icon_biggrin.gif

Well Madonna is aging you can just see that from her super bowl performance, she striving hard you can see... but seriously i believe its time for her to do something else not this anymore.

I wouldn't be surprise if died while performing. She is a great yet a class artist but for now im just worried about her...

I've a bad feeling Mariah Carey will be next on the death list.

Well, let's see how successful the album is first. Her new song is not that good in my opinion, but maybe she will have better ones.

    Lady-Gaga-Crying-HBO-documentary.jpg

Anyone who's watched the Marry The Night video knows Gaga has had periods of self destructiveness/ fragility. It's all in the music. It's part of her appeal. That coupled with the fact that she's not afraid to look ugly and doesn't conform to a commercial image.

What's retarded about actually having an accurate insight into a person by listening to/watching their art ? Oh yeah that's right, there isn't anything remotely retarded about it, someone maybe a little slow in that case.

While that vid is pretty fucking hilarious, you have to come to the reality of the fact that Madonna has left some pretty big shoes for anyone to fill should they want to take on the challenge of filling them.

Anyone who has followed her and others stars over the years can quickly see a trend. She outlasts them all and seems to somehow come out on top. Be she good or bad, people still know the name and still wanna see what she has left. In my book, she comes off like a champ. She's a veteran and she is able to do something that not many stars are capable of doing. She reinvents herself.

Is she dead? To a quite few people I'm sure she is. Is her career dead? Far from it. As long as she can still breathe and wants to continue in music, as long people can remember her name, what she has done in the past and what they want to see her do in the future then I think she'll be around for awhile. Probably another 20 years thanks to today's science.

As someone said earlier....53 and still popping out hits. You don't see many stars in the music business doing that.

I respect Gaga and I think some of her music is pretty good actually but in comparison to Madonna she has a long way to go. Time will tell if she'll be just another Mariah, Brittnay, Christina, etc...? All those female artists came out strong but lost steam in the long run and only focused on just one talent of theirs. Lady Gaga will suffer the same fate if stays stuck on just that one talent.

    Only Time will tell.

That's what they said in the 90's. It's 2012 and they are still talking about her. Nothing is dead.

Hilarious! But those other divas reminded me that Madonna was 2 hours late for an outdoor concert I attended in Miami, on a rather chilly night. But for all their own idiosyncrasies and shortcomings, performers like Cher and Liza, and Better Midler, too, though not featured here, managed to start their own concerts exactly on time when I was there.

I was told by others that it's SOP that Madonna starts late. Well, not SOP in my book, and I'll never attend another of her concerts, whether she's dead, resurrected or even ascending into Heaven. icon_razz.gif
