What I really want is an Infiniti G37 Coupe, but, given their price tag, any thoughts on these?

    Nissan Altima Coupe
    Mazda Rx8
    Subaru WRX
    Hyundai Genesis Coupe

or do I just suck it up and buy a Prius, given gas prices...

I say go for a WRX wagon. Fun to drive, AWD, reliable, cargo space to occasionally haul things, plenty of aftermarket parts to make it go faster.

Second choice, Genesis coupe. But wait for the new model. The front end got redesigned and it looks very hot. Plus more horsepower. Inline 4 with turbo would be good if you commute a lot. But I prefer the V6 for the extra torque.

    Altima Coupe.. yawn.

Mazda RX8.. underpowered. Outdated styling. Soon to be discontinued.

    Honda.

Reliable, well built, clean lines. Just plain solid cars.

The G37 are awesome, I would love one myself! The Genesis is probably your best bet as it is has some similar traits of the G37. You might also consider the NIssan 370Z or the Subaru BRZ that is coming out in a couple months.

Of your choices I would think about the Subaru or the Hyundai. The Subaru is about to be updated to the new Impreza within the year I believe (I could be wrong, in that case someone please inform me). The updated Hyundai looks really nice and is a decent car!

The Altima looks like a watered down G37, good car but rather bland. A manual V6 version could be fun though! I almost bought a RX-8 a few years ago, nice car, drove great, awesome manual, however I hesitated due to the maintanance upkeep and it burns a lot of oil! They have stopped production as well of the RX-8.

Please don't buy a Prius...if you enjoy driving cars, the Prius isn't a car guys kind of car. No offense to anyone. Good luck!

Yeah, the Nissan 370Z is mechanically very similar to the G37 (Nissan owns Infiniti) and priced several thousand dollars less. Might be worth checking out.

    Given you choices

The Altima is boring. The RX8 will drink both oil and gas but is fun to drive. The WRX is an awesome choice however you might find the ride to hash and the car a bit boy racer for someone like yourself. The Genesis coupe is a decent choice. A lot of power, just updated and you dont see to many of them. If it were me, I would probably to the WRX, but the Genesis would also be on the list.

I might also suggest you look at a GTI.

Honda took a dive recently. For a sports coupe either a genesis coupe or the new subaru brz. Rx8 is overrated and still gets crappy gas mileage. If you want a rotary, buy a biturbo FD.

How much do you want to spend? I am assuming, outside the Altima you want speed and peformance.

You might also want to check out the Cadillac ATS when it goes on sale later this year. It is expected to be priced under 30K.

Unless you are dead set against American cars.

For that scrilla and if you want "go fast" there are a few options. Mazda 3 speed. Mustang are decent choices. There is the new scion/scuby coupe but its brand new so the bugs will be there.

My mistake. I was basing it off the G37. I dont think the RX8 is that cheap tho.
