So I liked the site quite a bit, and was disappointed to see it go last year.

But then I was told by a friend that if you had an account there, the data was ported over to a new site called outboard.org *, an LGBT boarding/skiing site. I used my same login info to log in to the site (the layout and design are almost exactly the same, except take out 'Connexion' and replace it with 'Outboard.').

I'm uncomfortable with my data being stored on another server without my permission. I thought once the site was down, it was down, and that was that. What else are they doing with former Connexion account data?

You mean outboard.org because I went to outboard.com and it doesn't exist.

That is very odd. Looks like they just stole all the users from Connexion. Why they thought they needed to do that, I don't know. Unless they are planning to convert OutBoard into a site like Connexion was and drop the "snowboarding" aspect.

Either the people behind Connexion are behind this, or they sold the data, or it was hacked. who knows...icon_question.gif

Someone probably made a very good offer on the Connexion domain name. The transition to a boarding/skiing site is a little strange though. The front page says it's been around for 15 years. I suspect that the site owners of Outboard and the old Connexion are the same.

I think Stan904 is on the right track. They will probably make Outboard into a general non-specific site, Out(message)Board. I suppose you can contact the admin and request that your data be deleted.

It sounds like they acquired the company and took over all the accounts whether through an outright purchase or BK proceeding. Probably the massive data you never read before you click "AGREE" allowed this transfer to occur without your consent.
