This from a far right site called WND.com: "States March Forward on Anti-Detention Campaigns"

"The arguements still are raging over whether several provisions in a national defense appropriations act authorize warrentless detentions of American Citizens who may be described by Washington as "belligerants," but states aren't waiting for any final determination."

"The Virginia House already has passed ---- overwhelmingly ---- a "bill to prevent any agency, political subivision, employee, or member of the military of Virginia from assisting an agency of the armed forces of the United States in the conduct of the investigation, prosecution, or detention of a citizen in violation of the United States Constitution, the Constitutions of Virginia, or any Virginia Law or Regulation."

It is after all against our constitution to detain anyone indefinately for any reason , doing so is bypassing Habeus Corpus (the right to a reason to be held, without which the government cannot detain us and a right to defend onself against any detention in a court of law promptly)

Those of us who voted for Obama and are usually Liberal, should be first in line against this action of Obama's, he is our supposed progressive approving this damn constitutional tragedy. Why did he as a progressive Democrat not veto it ? Something is wrong with this picture.

This unconstitutional measure in the latest Military funding bill needs to be turned oround and quick.

Remember we should never allow our government to do unto anyone else what we don't want done to ourselves, if we do, what's to stop the government to contrive to do it to we as citizens. What's to stop the government from declaring someone a 'belligerent' who speaks out against a government action in public ?

This is great news from Virginia. I agree 100% that the federal government has no legitimate right detaining anyone against their will without any credible charges that prove that he or she is a serious threat against our country. The US Government has gone way overboard in its draconian laws which are all disguised as protecting us from terrorism. What a crock of shit. Obama is really no better than GW Bush or any of these other politicians. They are all fascist, control freaks.

This is sets up Virginia state employees as a legal Judge for the the federal government. I am not sure beyond just sending the message how legally effective it will be.

Although I am against warrentless detention, for the simple reason as they are illegal.
It would be nice if the US Congress sent such a message.
