I hate winter, I need spring and summer back... Day 5 of being sick and I can't take it anymore. I haven't been sick in about 4 years and it's like it's all playing catch up now. To top it off I'm bored lol

Well, if it's the flu, it seems to be more contagious than usual. I caught it myself and just got over it - first time in 7 years!

Day five is the worst! Congested nose, coughing, splitting headaches, fever, shivering cold and burning up at the same time.

Day six is much better: I got horny so bad, I got convulsive cramps in my arm from compulsive masturbation. After that, life is rosy ;-)

This is going to sound super gross (and it is...) but whenever I get a cold, I do two things. 1.) cut out all the dairy. 2.) snort salt water.

My uncles and ENT surgeon and says that is the most effective way to dry things out for a head cold. I have to admit, it works pretty well if you can get past the warm salt water.

    Yea, see. Netti pot, see.
This should be ongoing... on times you are too congested...try brushing your teeth before the nasal wash. That is the best preventative thing to do.

Since you are on Day 5, you have to ride it out (if you haven't seen a Dr. yet). Rest, Water, Food, Sleep.

I'd love to feel bad for you but I was sick sick for 2 and a half months. During that time where my immune system was down I got a cold, a bacterial drip into my heart and lungs, Tonsillitis and Pneumonia.

Mine was a severe case of Mono that lead to me blacking out and not having enough energy to even leave a bed. Now I have enlarged tonsils and a enlarged spleen that if hit just right will rupture.

Buck up, son. You have it easy.

So what WERE you looking for? Advice? Relief from your boredom? Or just Tweeting about yourself (which I do myself here, I can't criticize)?

But I think we do feel sympathy for you, like it or not, and some empathy from those who have endured similar or worse. Do get well soon! icon_biggrin.gif

I've been sick for about 10 days and am just starting to feel better.

It's a real bitch. It started off with a stomach flu.... So I was throwing up and shitting my brains out for like 2 days straight... awful AWFUL experience. I wanted to literally die, ugh!!!

After that subsided I noticed a tickle in the back of my throat. I thought it was from being dehydrated cuz of the stomach flu. NOPE. Turns out it was a viscious head cold starting. a day and half later it's a full blown sore throat, congested nose, headache, swollen tonsils, etc. Again, i'm miserbale.

Today is like the first day in almost 2 weeks that I'm actually feeling pretty good. Not like 100% back to normal, but im getting there. It feels good.

I hate winter illnesses. They're gross!!! Perhaps if we all moved somewhere really warm all year long there'd be no winter illness?

5 days is pretty much a normal "duration" of being sick with cold or flu. I've been fighting a flu for 2 weeks now, it just won't get the fuck out of my body. Fucking running nose...

    Sorry you guys are sick.

The salt water sniffing isn't as gross to do as it sounds and it does help.

I like warm showers or baths to keep up the moisture and soothe the aches.

    Good luck.

Aren't you guys getting an annual flu shot? I have for the last 30+ years (the Army enforced it for much of that time), and I haven't had the flu since I started getting those shots. I also get a pneumonia shot (and I've had that disease, too), though that's usually only given to those over 50.

Flu can be prevented or its effects lessened with the annual vaccination, you know. icon_confused.gif

I feel cruddy too, and have done for most of the winter. My brother-out-law brought it to xmas with him, ruined my NYE, and was just getting better (with occasional coughing fits) when I got clobbered again.

I rarely get sick, let alone stay sick so long. It has really dragged me down because I have so much to do and can't focus on anything. Gives new perpective and respect for those who deal with chronic illness, pain or physical limitations and still manage to live their lives.

Go to the doctor. It could be some kind of strain of meningitis or such which kills on the 6th or 7th day.

I would have been at the doctor on day 2, but that's just me :-)

As someone who gets strep oh, every 6 weeks or so, I can feel your pain. But not having gotten sick in FOUR years? I'm quite jealous.

I'm going to be getting my tonsils out in like 10 days, so... that will be a nice 14 day recovery period. Here's to hoping you feel better and that I dont die under the knife!

I'm quite prone to strep as well. It drives me nuts.

Last winter I had strep 3 times. Went on round after round of antibiotics.
this year, i've only had strep throat once!!!!!! just once!!! however winter isn't over yet, but by this time last year I was on round 3

    i feel ur pain brah

Saline nasal spray... Works for me.

I've been doing much better after leaving California. Considering it rains often up here in Seattle, I guess I'm surrounded by sturdier people up here.

Hey, we are all still invincible and immortal.

So far I've never gotten a flu-shot and, knock on wood, never had the flu.
