I need to ramp up my protein intake and because my job only has a forty five minute break time. Also I stand on my feet all day. I need to find a protein bar to snack on during those long hours and before I get home.

    Any suggestions please.

I like the Nugo bars. Some have from 12-18 grams of protein, low sugar, and vegan. Pretty tasty too.

I make my own. They aren't exactly bars, it's more like protein pudding, because they aren't crispy. You have to put it in a small container and eat it with a spoon. But I know exactly what's in it, and it's low-cost.

    Three cups of rolled oats.
    Eight scoops of protein powder.
One package of fat-free pudding of whatever flavor.
    Two cups of fat-free milk.
Sliced almonds if you want them, or raisins, etc.

I sprinkle flax seed on the bottom of a glass baking pan, spread out the "bars," cover and refrigerate them.

Cut into eight portions. The flax seed makes them come out in squares.

The issue with protein bars ins't so much the protein content as it is the carb content. When you look at the carb section most protein bars have a good deal of carbs and in most cases the sugar quantity is nearly as much as the total carb section. If start comparing, many of them rival the amount of sugar in a regular candy bar.

This bar has Calories 121, Calories from Fat 13, Total Fat 1.4g (sat 0.4mg), Cholesterol 65mg, Sodium 96mg, Carbohydrate 0.4g, Fiber 0g, Protein 26.6g

    Sound good?

It's a poached chicken breast. Cut it into a rectangle and wrap it in colored foil if you have to have a "bar."

I've looked at the wrapper and/or eaten every protein bar out there. They are mostly full of artificial processed crap and will make you fart so bad you'll lose your job. Eat real food instead. Your body and your coworkers will thank you.

I absolutely love the ISS OhYeah! bars, especially the Chocolate/Caramel. You can get them relatively cheaply and the nutritional values are decent. I do eat them instead of candy bars, though (and they absolutely astonishing at that).

Huge fan of these when I can't eat chicken or turkey

    tkp-701202.jpg

    tkp-701202.gif

INGREDIENTS: PROTEIN BLEND (CALCIUM CASEINATE, WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE, SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE), COATING (MALTITOL, COCOA BUTTER, CHOCOLATE LIQUOR, SODIUM CASEINATE, MILK FAT, SOY LECITHIN, NATURAL FLAVORS, SALT), GLYCERIN, MALTITOL, PEANUT BUTTER (GROUND PEANUTS, SEA SALT), WATER, COCOA BUTTER, PEANUT FLOUR, NATURAL FLAVORS, SOY LECITHIN, SEA SALT.
    CONTAINS: MILK, PEANUTS, SOY.
MANUFACTURED IN A PLANT THAT ALSO PROCESSES EGGS, PEANUTS AND TREE NUTS.
    GLUTEN FREE

not really happy that they have soy protein in them, but like that they have casein and whey, and that they aren't concentrate but rather higher quality isolate. Not to mention they are some of the most palatable protein bars I've ever had.

Honestly, not many super great protein bars.
You're much better putting powder in a shaker and making a shake.

Otherwise I dunno. I like things from optimum nutriton in general. (I won't vouch for protein bars specifically though.)

Maybe give these a look: http://www.organicfoodbar.com/products/Omega

    Or Vega Bars: myvega.com

You can also custom order bars at youbar.com.

Or how about carrying those squeeze packs of peanut butter (Justin's is a good one to check out)...not sure what you'd have those with, though.

most protein bars have tons of fat in them.

i would also look out for hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup. those shit are bad bad bad
