I joined Different Spokes of Southern Cal, but they tend to do alot of LA rides. Just looking for riding partners and to see if we can get an Orange County call going. Lots of great places to ridden here.

Check out Team OC. They are an AIDS/LifeCycle training group. The ALC calendar is a great resource for finding riding groups, even if you are not doing the ALC. On all the training rides I've been on, we've been very welcoming to anyone who wanted to rides with us. ALC training rides also tend to be very gay.

Here's their ride for this Saturday:

It is the season where we start ramping up our training for the ALC so as we get closer to June I'm sure the rides will get progressively harder. At least our group that leaves out of Santa Monica does. The rides right now are probably pretty easy 40-50 miles with a climb or two.

Thanks gwuinsf. I'll definitely look them up. My long rides on the weekend now are in the 60+ range, and I do 1 day a week of just hill riding, so bring it onicon_biggrin.gif

There used to be a Different Spokes chapter up here in Sacramento. But I've found only old contact info on a web site. I've been told it comes and goes every few years.

And I'm not overly impressed with the SF chapter. It seems most of their rides start at the Starbucks at 18th & Castro and you spend the first few miles dodging traffic to get out of SF.

Sacramento also has it's own version of the ALC with an extensive training calendar: A great organization which welcomes anyone to their training rides. I've crewed several times and ridden their single day fund raiser: which is 60 miles and 6000 ft. climb.

But I would still like to find locals to ride informally on a semi-weekly basis. We have so many great rides in this area.
