I enjoy cardio the most while at the gym...I also enjoy smoking shortly after a gym sesh. I have been doing this for quite sometime though never knew if the combination of cardio and smoking in the same day is that bad?

Anyone else enjoy a toke after a workout?

Pfft...back when I was a toker, I'd take a few tokes on food breaks during century rides (100 miles bicycle rides).

^^yes it is loads better for your lungs as you are "inhaling" not vapor without burning which is part process of inhaling carcinogens and harmful things. If you know your grower, even better. Many people use organic methods, but some do not. It is "better" for your lungs in terms of lack of known carcinogens and smoke.

If you vape, I don't see any issues b4, during, or after. Just enjoy and take your time regardless of your "thing" (ie: pre post shake, creatine, etc.).

When invited, I'd go for a vaporizer, but not into drugs anymore otherwise.

Although it's not good for health and in hot weather can be downright fatal, I've been curious about supplementing with products not available through normal channels combined with cardiovascular activity, to see if it "enhances" the experience.

I just don't understand it, though, some people know how to get them while others do not. I know of two shady areas that I can go to at night-time but I would never do so in order to avoid getting mugged or raped. I just don't have the nerve and the social connections. Yet obtaining supplements of this nature doesn't seem to be a big deal for many people. Why do you suppose that is?

FagneticSpermeability saidIf you're going to smoke pot why even bother working out?

There are plenty of studies that show the negative impact on a man's natural testosterone levels by decreasing them. By smoking pot, you're hurting yourself in the long run and on several levels.

Not only are testosterone levels negatively effected but leutenizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone are as well. Also, smoking pot can result in erectile dysfunction and fertility issues.

It also blunts growth hormone output and elevates cortisol levels.

Knowing all this, anyone who still feels compelled to smoke weed really isn't interested in preserving their health or improving their physical fitness.

    ...and it just stinks! Yucky.

Buy weed butter or oil or an edible if you want to be healthy. It might take awhile to hit but atleast you know you aint ruining your lungs.

So... why is it I've met so many bodybuilders and buff guys that enjoy pot regularly? I think some of these studies are "slanted". Clearly it hasn't effected their workouts or gains much. They're healthy and ripped and don't do steroids.

I barely smoke anymore (mainly due to time) but am sure that vape is a better way to go when possible.

Hahahaha. They're bodybuilders.... but they don't do steroids. Yeah.

So to answer your question, the reason why it hasn't affected their testosterone levels is because they're jacking their testosterone levels up with other means. Even still, I know a few bodybuilders and none of them would even THINK about smoking weed because of how unhealthy it is and how it would affect their gains on so many levels.

I think there is some validity to what has been said about smoking, but only smoking. I don't remember seeing any studies that show vaporizing (inhaling vapor with canibinoids ,which are already present in the body) causing side effects. I also think people use medical marijuana for more than just an "enhancer." I think of it part of a supplementation regiment or Things (in the words of Fletcher Lidner, 2007) As a semi-vegan, I know I have to be creative about my gains. I am sure they are the same way if they are into a healthy lifestyle and partake. Again, if you use a vaporizor, many of the risks (and smells!) associated with it is not there.

Smell = smell of cooked popcorn (slightly overcooked)

I don't support smoking anything (I am allergic to smoke), but I do support vaporizing things.

There are studies that say it lowers test and there are studies that say it has no effect. I wouldn't worry aboot it. Toking before a workout is better.

I'd like to see the break down of these studies, and while I'm sure you believe their accuracy..I have plenty of reason to not.

I remember when I used to smoke and I honestly thought that a bong "purified" the smoke. Then I noticed that I couldn't run as long as I once could and I coughed a lot.

    Here's one from 2002.

It does not say lowered testosterone but the abstract does talk about lowered gonadotropin, prolactin, growth hormone and thyroid stimulating hormone.

Amen, using qualitative data always trumps what someone says... I kind of love you for being as blunt as I am... but yes any drug usage causes detriment to the body and fucks with the internal workings of it. Clean bodies always perform better than ones with toxins in them.

Vape's a great idea. Smoking before definitely lessons the length of my runs, but on Friday evening after work. . .a couple tokes before throwing on the sunglasses headphones and running shoes can make for a GREAT Experience.

Obviously, the more you smoke, the more you get to trip out, but the more you're going to feel it.

After can be nice, but ave A LOT LOT more water.

    Peace!

Heh, a couple weeks ago I saw a guy who was biking pretty intensely while puffing away at his cigarette. I couldn't help but think that looked a little counterproductive icon_wink.gif

I mean, where did these studies come from? Probably paper companies who have kept weed illegal, and still are.

PS nice usage of the word "blunts" icon_biggrin.gif

And I don't find anything wrong with smoking. Hell, most of the guys I know in college work out, and smoke hella crazy, and have amazing bodies. Better than most of the people on here knocking it. And inhaling anything is bad for your LUNGS, but at least weed doesn't contain nasty additives and poisons.

Most things are alright in moderation, weed being one of them, not cigarettes.

In fact, ingesting cannabis has amazing health benefits. Look it up, I believe UCLA is doing most of the research on it, but im sure there are other studies.
mm imagine a weed salad instead of kale or spinach.

over spring break, i did it while working out! i felt weird because i found myself enjoying my music and cold drink more than my workout. If thats any indication of how my cardio would go, I think I would get distracted by the animals and flowers on a trail which would eventually kill my run! icon_sad.gif i should try it sometime! yay for cali having a weed dispensary every few blocks. lol ps i do not condone such activity ;)
