I read somewhere they want to stop using torrent files completely, and have everything be magnet links.

If you haven't tried using the magnet link for your torrent, give it a shot. And just an FYI, uTorrent is one of the many clients that supports them.

What is the difference between the "regular" torrent and the magnet torrent?

With the regular method, you have to download a .torrent file, and then open it in a client. The indexing site (in this caste TPB) has to store these files on their servers.

The magnet links get rid of this file, and contain all necessary data in the link. So after clicking the link, you'll get a message asking if it's ok to open an application on your computer. And then the download will start.

In removing torrent files, it will make it harder to shut down The Pirate Bay icon_smile.gif

i heard there is a giant crack down going down right now. the trackers are logging IP addresses. I hope you guys are using proxies, some kind of VPN, shut down your uploads, or avoiding public trackers.
