I've only been hiking a few times but I LOVE IT!!!!

I live up in the Frazier Mountain (Grapevine) area in northern Los Angeles County. There are a ton of trails up here but I don't like hiking alone. I'd equally like to hike in other part of Los Angeles County or Kern County. I've hiked from the Griffith Observatory to the Hollywood Sign which was pretty cool. I've also heard that the Chantry Flats in the San Gabriel Mountains and some trails in Santa Monica along the coast are great. So many beautiful spots in SoCal!!

Some things you should know about me. I'm just starting to get in shape now and I have about 80lbs to lose. But I'm a tough little (short) guy and I never complain or fall behind. I've never been the type to allow physical limitations to slow me down, I work through it. Likewise, if you are the kind of person that only likes to hang around beautiful people, I'm not that person, lol. While beauty is always a nice bonus to have around, it doesn't define who a person is. So I'd like to put together a diverse group of guys, the more the merrier.

    Anyone interested??

Also, I'm a bit acrophobic (fear of heights) so I am really only interested in hiking, not rock climbing. No mountain goat craziness here! I do love to go up to high elevations to see the view, but I'll stay as far away from the edge of a cliff as possible and would prefer to not take ledge trails - although I did that once and it scared the shit out of me! I'm in it for the beauty and comradery, not the adrenaline of almost dieing icon_smile.gif

I'm open to considering it. My schedule is pretty busy but I will try to make time.

    Chantry Flats:

(lots of shade on this hike)

Bridge To Nowhere is a popular hike. I have never done it but there is the possibility of seeing big horn sheep. ;)

Fantastic! Hopefully we can find a couple of other guys, come up with a time and place and hopefully you can make it icon_smile.gif Are there any particular days of the week that are usually better for you?

These are great videos by the way. I haven't been to any of these places yet and they all look amazing. I think I'm particularly in love with the Bridge to Nowhere hike, although I wont be jumping off! icon_smile.gif

I'm thinking that if I can't get a group together I could still do the San Gabriel hikes alone. Seems like it's popular and there are plenty of people around. The trails near my house in Mt. Pinos, Mt. Abel, Frazier Mountain, etc are pretty much deserted most of the time. The trails are clearly marked but I've heard it's very possible to not see a single person during the trip, and there is no cell phone access. So if something happened you're screwed.

Guys, don't go hiking alone. PLEASE!

My schedule is kinda shitty right now. But I might be interested in a meetup later in the spring.

I don't mind waiting till spring. It gives me a little time to catch up on some things I need to get done. And hopefully my allergies will die down a bit by then. They have been so good the last few years until this last week.

The only day of the week that I can schedule a good amount of time to hike is probably on Sundays.

Great! I can usually swing Sundays too unless I have a matinee or early rehearsal, but not usually. Hopefully we'll find a couple more guys by then too icon_smile.gif
