At 6'1", I fall, per conventional wisdom, squarely in the middle of the Swiss ball size range, that's to say 65cm. I find 65cm is good for abdominal work and hamstring curls but not so great for push-ups with the hands on the ball. 65cm is too high and wide. It feels easy like an elevated pushup and gripping a big ball is a lot easier on the shoulders and stabilizers than gripping a smaller ball. Given that I don't have a smaller ball at home, I usually end up with my feet on the ball and hands on a medicine ball or in TRX straps.

Anybody else find that the Swiss ball size that convention says they should use is too small or big for a given exercise?

Yes, I have two balls for that reason (that sounded trashy..).. I think that some people's proportions are out of their "range" or something.. I have a longer torso and a narrow frame for example...

I have to use a smaller ball for the pushups and jacknifes etc.

I have however also been moving towards bosu instead of the swiss ball for stability work - find they're pretty versatile..
