hm, this is really interesting- i know a lot about western esotericism (if i do say so lol), but next to nothing about eastern schools of mysticism and occultism- i've always felt comfortable with western astrology and unfamiliar with the eastern. its intriguing.

to answer the question for myself: i'd be a hare, born in january so that'd be ox, and i'd be predominated with a yin influence. didn't go as far as the time and everything because i'm not sure how different animal types would interact in that subdivision. but having a hare personality seems pretty true, as does being an introverted intelligent yin type, and the ox subclass for month would explain my hard edge. its strange though because in western astrology, which describes me to a tee, i'm an air sign and my natal chart is predominated by fire and water, with a bit of air, and no earth. interesting that the eastern astrology ascribes so much earthiness to me- i see none in myself.

Well I'm a Metal Monkey (I'm labeled as the Monkey King himself according to the book) and my inner animal is the Ox and my outer animal is the Tiger.

In 2002 I bought this book by Sabrina Liao called: Chinese Astrology

I found it a great read and back then I was exactly the person it described me to be, so I over the years have learned to work on my negative aspects. I figure in a few more years and I'll be there icon_cool.gif

I am a rat I know that (1960), the first sign of the Chinese zodiac. I don't know the element.

Rats are common in my family tree, my mom, her parents and my brother's daughter.

    No kidding.

I'm a rat-cow-cow-snake, in that order. According to a friend of mine, Rooster and Ox should be called Hen and Cow in English because they are feminine signs.

Interesting, okay as for me this is what I am in the Chinese Zodiac:
I was born in '85 which happened to be the year of the Ox and the years element was Wood.
I was born in November which is the Pig and Water.
I was born at 10:15am which makes me a Snake & Fire

I'll write more as to how each affects eachother.

Born in '80 - Metal Monkey

Born in May - Snake and Fire?

Born at 8:00am - Dragon and Earth?

...I got a little confused on how the elements matched up, but I think that's it. icon_confused.gif

I'm a wood Tiger. Pair that up with my Greek Zodiac (Cancer/Leo cusp), and there are just too many claws in my astrological charts...

The Animal and element of the year seem to be the more dominant of aspect when looking at oneself. A person tends to show those qualities more than they do any of the other signs.
I'm not certain if I mentioned but the Chinese Zodiac consider everyone to be 3 animals. The Outer Animal which will be the more dominate one, the Lunar Animal though i'm still slightly confused where that fits in(i'll do more research on it), and the Inner Animal which is suppose to be the secret you or the side of us that some don't usually see or understand (it's not the dark side of a person but a side most people possible wouldn't have thought was you.).
Each year is given an Element i'll write several years down so you all can calculate which you are. Each element though tends to affect eachother. I'm Wood and Water which both go hand in hand cause Water helps Wood grow, but at the same time i'm Fire which goes against both thus a conflict in my natural being.

I'll write more as I get it so you all aren't confused. icon_wink.gif

The book i've been reading mostly from is called Mix and Match: Chinese Astrology, along with a few websites on Chinese Zodiac. What exactly is misleading to you maybe my writing is just confusing (which happens sometimes when i'm excited about a certain subject) and i'll try to fix it if I can.

Italatin saidChinese horoscope is interesting. I am...

    Animal for the Year: Dog
    Element: Metal
    Even number year: Yang
    Lunar(Outer) Animal: Hare
    Inner Animal: Rooster
    Dominant Aspects: Goat

It can be funny to try and interpret this.

You haven't mentioned how to interpret the dominant aspects yet... And I also didn't get how to calculate the element twice - by year and also by animal...?

Ah well the animals I put each element beside it, I probably confused you by what I wrote at the bottom of it. I'll hit up on the dominate aspects tomorrow

    rat respects north

    horse respects south

    rabbit respects east

    roost respects west

it is hard to say element just according to these animals.

    these are ground elements.

also we have ten up(sky) elements.

sorry i cannot translate into english properly.

what is your date of birth?

the most important thing the chinese believe is balance.
