With all the discussion about the top 1% in this country, and the disparity between them and the 99%, a banker left a waitress a roughly 1% tip for a $133 meal.

On the receipt, the message "Get a real job" was left for the server.

That's disgusting. They should release his name so he can be scorned as he deserves.

The article says they are in the process of verifying its authenticity.

In a conversation with the Huffington Post, Mike Wilcox, the vice president of operations for True Food Kitchen, gave some insight into how the company was treating the incident since the receipt began receiving attention online. Wilcox said that the restaurant was "absolutely" treating the receipt as real, but to confirm its authenticity for certain, they were in the process of tracking down both the physical receipt at the restaurant and the computer-generated copy in their credit card system.

I hope the arrogant SOB gets exposed, but for some arrogan SOB's, they don't have enough class to be ashamed or embarassed since they actually believe they are on a 'higher level' than the rest of us.

That is an incredibly clear picture-much better than could be taken even by 8.0 megapixel cell phones, no?

How do you know it was a banker?
No matter who it is, why would he only pick on this Breanna. Surely he acted the same way toward others, they just didn't go public?

Maybe he is a jerk...but maybe she was a dipwad?

Maybe the order was wrong more than one time? Maybe she didn't bother to refill his empty water glass? Who knows?

I expect to get flamed for this next comment, but don't really care what you 'servers' say.
A 'tip' is given for services rendered. If you expect it as part of your pay then you do need to find a better job.
Just like people expecting "Christmas Bonuses"...you shouldn't 'expect' a gift of any kind.

You'll find life less disappointing of you don't.

I don't know about the motives or what happened enough to make a judgment call.

who doesn't verify the truth before they print? If it seems overly sensational that would be the first thing I would do.

PS I say the sky is made of Blue M&M's..... wonder if they will post that online or verify first....icon_eek.gificon_confused.gificon_cool.gif

if anyone goes to a restaurant take a look at the Merchant and customer copy they always print the name below.

    Receipt looks a little weird.

Also how do we know he is really a banker? This is an area of SoCal that have wealthy people that do absolutely nothing.

The original blog this was posted on was pulled for some reason. Written by an employee not the Server http://futureexbanker.wordpress.com/about/

    Seems a bit odd.

Interesting how all the Liberals on here have conveniently forgotten all about this now that it has been proven to be a hoax.
The check shown was actually altered. The actual cost of the meal was just over $30. and the actual amount of the tip was 20%.

And all I hear about this from the liberals who were so eager to post it as real.......crickets! I doubt any of the people who chimed in on how awful 1 percenter will even bother to actually look at the truth. Seems the more things change the more they stay the same.

How typical of you! Since it never happened, there isn't a name to release. Maybe the name of the liberal blogger should be released "so he can be scorned as he deserves."
Never let the facts and reality get in the way of demonizing a group of people you envy, do you?

If you look at the supposed correct receipt, it says Guest Copy at the bottom. How did they get the Guest Copy?

Hehehe. I thought it was suspicious. Aside from being pretty damn bold, I was wondering why someone from the top 1% would be caught eating at that restaurant. I took a look at the restaurant's menu online and didn't think it was a place for someone making serious bank to eat. Plus I'd love to know how one could run such a high bill there!

I ran up a $100+ bill at http://stingraysushi.com/. It's easy. Just order lots of wine and sake with the meal. icon_lol.gif

Well, as the one who initiated this thread, I'm glad you brought it to our attention that it was a hoax. I would not have had any problem updating this thread if I knew.

So, thanks for the update icon_biggrin.gif
