Im having trouble getting motivation, to go work out. I need to go and I want to go, but its almost like no matter how much i tell my body to get up and go, it just doesn't move. Is that strange? and is there a way to break it and get motivation to go.

You need something that gets you going ....

that could be a lot of things but what got you to come to this website?

    is it for a BF
    To look better in clothes
    To look better to guys
To Look LIKE some hot guys?

whatever it is think of that when you're supposed to workout and it'll get you there

Yup yup! GQjock is right. There are times I find myself not wanting to go to the gym but I go anyway. I tell myself, if I still don't want to be there after 10 minutes, then get your ass home. There's yet been a time that I've said screw it. By the time I get there, change and start working out, there's no reason to stop as I would have to change again before leaving etc., etc..

Not to me. The only reason I go to the gym is because my trainer is paid in advance and waiting there for me.

Go where? Your profile says you work "in the house." Does that mean you work out at home and you cant get down to the basement or wherever?

At the age of 22, I am going to presume that you cant afford a personal trainer. Cuz if you can, hiring a PT is the best thing you can do. Not just for motivation, but to get started right.

    Here are some suggestions:

    1) move a set of dumbells to wherever you sit and do some simple curls while you are sitting there wishing you would go downstairs. Maybe once you feel some pump, you will want to go and start working out for real.

    2) join a class in aerobics or whatever at the Y and let that get you moving and in the habit of exercising again.

    3) go to the bookstore and look thru these two books. You will see what effect being overweight or just having fat, esp around the mid section, has on your health. Understanding what is going on in your body can be really movtivating because you know WHY you are working out. I know you are not "old" yet. But it never too early to get in shape and keeping your health.

Right now i just do what i can in the house because i don't belong to a gym. I have one in mind i want to join, (and its 24/7 so i wont have the excuse that its to late) but im just scared of paying for it and not using it.

i have a similar problem- when i'm at school i have an amazing new rec center complex to work out at- its truly a gym rat's fantasy lol. but now that i'm home for the summer doing an internship... i'm without a gym (can't afford one anyways), and just can't motivate myself to workout at home. we have an old soloflex in the nasty garage, and i could do calisthenics in my room and do crunches and pushups and stuff....... but i just can't bring myself to, despite wanting to and needing to. i get through a few crunches and get distracted. i think i need a place to go TO as a part of a routine that i feel guilty for skipping. but i can't have that while i'm at home. help?
