Where are my fellow Cran fans? The Cranberries are back with Roses their first new release since 2001's Wake Up and Smell the Coffee which had the misfortune of being released shortly after 9/11 and got lost in the shuffle. Then they decided to take a break after a tour in 2002 to pursue starting families and solo material.

Dolores O Riordan...one of the greatest singers in rock. She has the most crystalline clean voices around and while people compare her to Sinead O Connor she actually has more Karen Carpenter in her. Still people either love her or hate her for some reason especially the Irish and British press. She still looks great for 40 without plastic surgery. They are so down to earth too, no attitude just like "everyday lads" as Dolores would say. No group writes lyrics or sounds like the Cranberries and they go could go hard or soft. They had so many hits in 90s and were an alt rock staple.

and the guitarist Mike Hogan has never looked better and has aged incredibly well,

Linger and Zombie two of my favorite songs of ALL time yet so totally different.

Saw them on their reunion tour in 2009 and they rocked as usual and going to see them again in May in Philly and probably NYC.

On this new cd, its a a return to form, they do not break any new ground but they don't have to..its classic Cranberries, definitely more on the mellow side with only a couple of uptemp songs. Highlights are "Raining In My Heart" and "Schizophrenic Playboys".

Good to see the 90s return again and looking forward to another female fronted 90s group Garbage releasing a new cd in May.

here is a clip of promo gig they just did

and Raining In My Heart which will be the 2nd single.

Linger and Just My Imagination are two of my favorite songs ever!

I hope their new shit is good, and somewhat reminiscent of their old without being dated.

I don't want to profess to be a fan since I only have No Need to Argue and the single "Salvation" from the followup album. No Need to Argue is one of the few albums I can listen to all the way through without skipping to the songs that were released as singles. No filler.

its the Cranberries style for sure but it does not break any new ground sound wise.

and I may have wrote you off prematurely after the LadyGaGa/Madonna thread, you do have good taste after and Dolores can sing both of them out of the building. Linger is an incredible song

I do not think liking Lady GaGa means I have no taste in music.

This is awesome!!! I grew up listening to The Cranberries. Wow, what memories they bring back. LOL The Cranberries is in my top ten of all-time favorite bands.

I love Dolores O'Riordan's voice - it's so etheral and, of course, Irish.

I wept like a teenage girl at a Justin Bieber concert when I went to my first Cranberries concert in 1995.

    Yes, I am old.

    http://www.cranberries.com/#tour

NYC sold out in a half hour so they added a 2nd show

doing alot of world dates, the US part of the tour seems to end in Minnesota but there are no southern and west coast dates so I am assuming those should be announced soon

That's a first, and with that a fair assumption. I don't have anything useful to add, though, because I never really got into them, other than I love that one song that everybody knows about- Zombie. Even the shitty remixes that I've heard in the clubs, but nothing beats the original. Although I'm apparently facebook friends with Dolores' cousin and her husband. So she told me.

    lol
I didn't weep but I saw them in concert in 1995 too.
One of the best concerts I've ever been to.

Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We is one of the greatest albums of the 90's.

...I used to be a Cranberries fan... but then they got so poppy and mainstream in their style. They had a much more edgy sound that they sacrificed for money, I think. This song... I could only listen to the first fifteen seconds and had to stop.

Maybe there are other songs on the album that sound more like the old Cranberries I love, so I'll hold my judgement.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidWhere are the Cran Fans?!

    < INDUH HOOOOOOUUUUZZZ!!!

I remember these songs when they came out. Such an amazingly melodic voice full of soul.

I am more of a fan of the slower songs where Dolores's voice is the dominant sound. Songs like Zombie I didn't care for too much. Those hard electric guitars overpowered her voice.

Dolores is just so versatile. I love the harder stuff the best but I know what you mean about sometimes the voice being drowned out by the sound.

When Youre Gone is an underrated song, in the video you can tell Dolores was getting dangerously thin. She basically stopped eating and was so depressed. They cancelled the tour shortly after i saw them in Jersey. I remember them doing Salvation on the MTV Awards and she could not have weighed more than 90 pounds seriously.

Unlike some other musical stars, Dolores was able to get through a rough patch of depression caused by having to deal with fame and she came back strong. Sadly other artists turn to drugs and flame out.

I think she was brilliant on "Everything I Said", "Daffidols Lament" "Disappointment" and and "No Need to Argue"

the first two releases were just incredible, two of the greatest cds of the 90s, NNTA sold 15 million records worldwide. It was so deep, its tough to choose from the first two which is better.

My personal fave from NNTA is "Ridiculous Thoughts"....the part where she sings "you're gonna have to hold on hold on hold on to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,,,her voice just goes so deep and she nails it in concert too. Its a musical eargasm for me

ha...you mind my partner coming too?

but seriously go and see them, its an excellent show. Dolores is a presence on stage and the songs sound like they do on the record thats how good her voice still is. The only difference is its loud, they definitely rock out in concert.

Yeah The Cranberries are fucking awesome. Zombie is one of my fave 90's songs.

With them and Garbage making a comeback this year its a great time for music.
