I had a crazy enjoyable moment this morning when I heard that KG is prolly going to Boston.

Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and KG, three completely complimentary superstars playing on the same team. This isn't some hall of fame Lakers novelty team, this is the real deal. The supporting cast will be the question mark, but it may not matter. The east is going to be entertaining to say the least.

As far as top franchises in terms of success and identity:

    1. Celtics

    2. Bulls

    3. Knicks

    4. Lakers

    5. Spurs

    In terms of my favorite

    1. Mavericks

    2. Finally proud to say Celtics

    3. Shaquile O'Neal

    4. Rasheed Wallace

    5. Detroit Pistons

Shaq and Rasheed make the franchise they are playing with. Both are intense energy guys that are fun to watch. Mark Cuban is a douche of a person, but he is a great great owner, and I love my Mav's. Outside of basketball, I'm big on my celtic pride, and the franchise itself has a great legacy. Love watchin some old Celtics Lakers games, Russell vs West, or Magic vs. Bird. Always thought Pierce was great, glad they surrounded him instead of shipping him off. The Pistons are the team that lives my philosophy most. Just a hard working group of guys that know they are the best, and when they lose, it's not cause of the other team, it's cause of them. They put in the time, and have the toughness. It's a family on the court, not a team.

Huge Basketball fan, hope this thread catches on.

Again, I'm not sure what the criteria is here, but if we're going for favorites, mine is the lakers, followed by none others... although I do enjoy watching games of the Suns, Mavs, Clippers, and recently the Warriors.

Only passion is for the lakers though.

...I'll go with the franchise with the most loyal fanbase, which is not tied to success. And these fans tend to be rabid...although I am not one of them.

    Golden State Warriors.....

...it's easy to be a fan of a winner. And who can match the drama of Golden State's trouncing of Dallas, the prohibitive favorite.

And, McGay, keep on posting. Evidently, most of us have sense of humor and don't take things like a thread on favorite sports teams so seriously...or, ahem, seriously at all.

While the fans certainly had something to do with Golden State beating Dallas, Don Nelson is the primary reason. He is the most innovative coach in the game, and a great mind in general. The Golden State vs. Dallas series was really Nelson vs. Dirk.

Nelson had something to prove to himself, and Dirk is a very modest man who's primary gift in the game of basketball is his mind. While Dirk has physical gifts, such as being a 7 foot shooter, he isn't faster, stronger, more passionate, or more intense than anyone else. He is smarter. He plays in his head, and that is the game Nelson plays best. Nelson got to Dirk, plain and simple. Dirk is a leader by example, and when he crumbled, everyone but Stackhouse did as well.

The fans could have helped Golden State in the next round. However, once the buzz was on, in the wealthy bay area, the true fans that went to the Dallas series couldn't afford to make it to the next, and Golden State, in turn, crumbled.

As far as McGay, he was kinda right. The original post is about as clear as saying,'what are the 5 best foods?'. If anything, he was adding to your thread, so you should probably thank him, instead of telling him off.

    Top 5 NBA..hmmm..
Id have to go with...looking at tradition, fan support, success of the years..this is my take on it.
    1. LA Lakers
    2. Boston Celtics
    3. Phoenix Suns
    4. S.A. Spurs
    5. Philly 76ers

Now..WNBA teams (the league that I prefer) ..While the WNBA is closing the gap of becomming profitable..its not quite there yet (with a few exceptions of teams)..I'm basically saying who I think has the best fans. :)

    1. Connecticut Sun
    2. LA Sparks
    3. NY Liberty
    4. Houston Comets
    5. Seattle Storm

If you guys haven't watched the WNBA..turn it on and watch a game..it's awesome. I've been a fan since it started in '97 and every year with the influx of new players..it gets better and better..and not to mention they are GREAT role models, unlike a lot of the men in pro sports these days.
