Don't get a cheap Android phone. The old "You get what you pay for" applies here. You can get a pretty high end Android phone for a low upfront cost, if you sign a 2-year contract with most carriers. Same with the iphone.

    I'm planning to buy
    myself a low cost
    android smartphone
in a few weeks or so
    after I find myself
some local gay single male friends
with their own low cost android smartphones. How long
should I be their friends and their
    lovers before I go
shop with them to buy my own low cost android smartphone?

I've never understood if you were joking or being serious, but it's fun to read your posts icon_smile.gif

Try the Samsung Galaxy on Straight Talk. It's relatively cheap and the service/signal is good.

I would recommend you to go with HTC! It may not please everyone, but the HTC is a decent, entry level Android smartphone for a very affordable price.

Buy from amazon wireless. Seriously cheap droids from as little as a penny! The new Galaxy Nexus is only $49 there, and $200 at Verizon.

I'm upgrading this week from my flip phone and going for the Nokia Lumia 900 from AT&T. Not the provider I wanted, but a killer phone. And again, only $49 in amazon wireless vs a hundred bucks at the store.

I find this one surprising :

Impressive mix of hardware/design for the price asked.
Even has removable battery and micro SD card extension

Had a Huawei, and loved it, cause it has superior speakers for listening to music. Got addicted to Pandora with it's help. icon_cool.gif
