I'm confused here....FINALLY my cable company is now offering LOGO TV! Was really excited right? But everytime I tune in to it, some drag show, (vomit), is on.icon_rolleyes.gif
Seems like all day, every day!?!
Who wants to look at that crap all the time?

    Tristan

PS- a side note here...is it just me, or does the show Portlandia on IFC, besides being really awful, feature THE UGLIEST bunch of people ever?!? LOL!

Because shallow and superficial gay people need their own TV shows to sit and watch too?

I agree the gay program selection on LOGO is limited, so they fill their air time with a lot of repeated, low quality crap. I almost never watch LOGO.

LOGO USED to be a decent channel when it came on air in 2005. For its first to third years it actually had great movies, news programming geared toward the gay community, travel shows etc.

After its third year it began to cater to a much younger crowd that was solely interested in ms rue paul and jersylicious bootylicious gurrls!
I was an avid supporter but now wouldnt mind seeing it go under.

After having access to this network for the past week, I have to agree that this network might as well go under. icon_sad.gif

I figured there would be a few nonsense shows like this on, but I was hoping there would be gay history docs., movies featuring gay characters in positive rolls, movies directed - written - produced by gays, etc... But even today; from 8AM - 1PM this Ru Paul Drag Race bullshit is on? Who wants to see that crap? I don't get it. I watched it for about 15 mins and came away with...'What a freak show!'

Sundance and IFC play MUCH more positive gay related movies and programs! icon_eek.gif

I pulled the plug on cable about 18 months ago because several channels seemed to follow the same pattern. One show, probably very cheap to produce, came to dominate their offerings. Drag race on LOGO was one. I used to like watching Bump! on LOGO, but I can get that online.

Same as every other cable channel running reality tv marathons all the time. If fags will watch it, they will continue to play it. Mtv, vh1, tlc, bravo... Its all just bullshit to keep the lowest overhead while eeking out the most revenue from as seen on tv mini-infomercials. Many channels just run their primetime two or three times in a row, from the real time around eight to three or four in the morning... No more cable for me.

    WTF is wrong with you?!?
We have to hear that term from every Tom, Dick, and asshole Republican, why should we have to hear it from within our own ranks! icon_mad.gif

Have you seen The A List yet? If not you haven't seen the worst LOGO has to offer. LOGO is an embarrassment to the gay community.

I'm starting to concur with that assessment .
That Ru Paul freak show is even worse. Both most certainly an embarrassment to our community.

Well...its a VIACOM network, so it pretty much lives up to the ADHD MTV-esque crapfest genre that built the media conglomerate. It has more to do with marketing and demographics than meaningful presentation.

Television in general these days is a mind rotting waste of time... you can't fill 1,000 channels with quality for the same budget you used to fill 10.

No mater how cheap reality TV is to produce...

That explains it. Viacom demands a payment from your cable provider to rebroadcast that crap, so it's a scam all around.

I honestly hadn't heard of LOGO. All this time, I thought BRAVO was the gay channel and I thought to myself, "man this station seems pretty mainstream... you can't even tell that its a gay channel." haha. Now I know why.

The only good show I've seen on LOGO is the travel show that they never seem to show anymore. Everytime I check it out it's RuPaul or Teen Mom. Can someone explain why the gay community would want to watch that show?

I canceled my cable over a year ago and switched to Hulu and Netflix to catch up on the few shows or movies that I actually want to watch - when I want to watch them. Although I do like RuPaul's Drag Race in moderation (and actually know a couple of the contestants) the network on the whole is disappointing. We shouldn't eschew drag all together, it's one of the few aspects of our continued centuries old gay culture that we should hold onto - and it is actually entertaining. If that makes me a "fag" then so be it.

Ever heard of Princess Seraphina, a mollycull (guy in drag that passed messages between gay lovers) in London in the 1720s? In some court trials people testified that they knew him (his real name being John Cooper) by no other name than that of "Princess Seraphina". LOGO should make some programs about little known historical figures like him/her.

Have you lived with the 20 yr old gay guys that think they're madonna yet? Then you'll know why 'they' watch it. The majority of the gay community doesnt even tune into it anymore.

    ^^^ Definitely.
ITunes for Dr. House and Fringe. Local news is streamed online. If it's not online, I'll go to the gym and watch it.

I fear that DVRs, the recent writers strike, and this economy contributed to a change in how networks budget their cash flows vs. ad revenue. Thanks to ITunes, I live an advertisement-free life.

I think everyone needs to lighten up. Drag Race is meant to be a trainwreck. That's why it's entertaining. As soon as we start taking ourselves so seriously that we can have a laugh at people playing characters that they have fun playing, then there's no point. Of course it's not for everyone, but I love me a good Drag Race.

I can't wait til there is more than 1 gay channel to watch. One for with shows mostly for young gays, another for the adult gays, another for the jocks, and another for the artists & trannies =)
