    Hi guys,

Been at the gym for a few months and getting more serious about it. Am a naturally slim-ish guy and trying to gain muscle. Am only getting to the gym about x3 a week for about 45 mins each workout - focussing more on free-weights with just a 10 min run.

Have been told I should be eating around x5 a day, but wondering what guys eat in terms of portion sizes - typical meals etc. so I know I'm eating enough to feed my muscles and not ending up the size of a house from over-eating!

    Cheers,
    Will

High Protein, low Carbs. and as many veg as you want.
Add a good weight gainer shake 2x on work out days and 1x in the am on Non work out days.

Try, to get 40 grams of protein with each meal. The leaner the source, the better..but also more expensive. cut out fast acting carbs, only use those immediatly after training. Use complex carbs with a low glycemic index, at all other times . The glycemic index, indicates , how fast of an insulin spike , a particular carb, will make. Slowly released is better. So sweet potatoe is low, white potatoe is high. Reg pasta , is high, whole wheat pasta is low. Same with white bread and rice. hope this helps.

Pffft! We all know you should be nicknamed Paleo Man!

To the OP, the portion sizes are gonna depend on what you eat. You'll probably want to eat palm size portions of lean protein sources like chicken, fish, or fist size portions of low fat cottage cheese or plain greek yogurt at each of your five meals. Throw in a fist size portion of veggies with the meals and add whole grains to the first two or three meals of the day and you should get enough to fuel muscle growth without blimping up.

    Tell that to McDonald's and In-N-Out. They'll disagree. icon_lol.gif

<-- Only 70-80% Paleo, with 20-30% "regular" food.
