Guys of all orientations "experimenting"" Exactly how common do you guys think it is?

Hello, I've been lurking this site for a while now and I finally decided to make a profile. Since being on this site and reading the comments I've often been wondering after the topic of guys "experimenting" homosexually without actually being gay. Women get away with it in this society and from I could see are thought of as the only gender who does experiment. But since browsing this site and seeing some comments I've wondered if that's actually true...and so on to my question.

I read in Kinsey that about 40% of guys had a same-sex experience before while for women it was only 20%. I think now the numbers for women are higher while for men iit's around the same since society hasn't tolerated it any better. We never hear about it though. But on here, gay guys are always sayig how many "straight' guys they've been with so I'm wondering which gender really experimenents more. So do you guys think guys experiment with homosexuality as much as girls or even more than girls, but NEVER ever tell anyone about it?

I'm curious as to what gay or bi guys think about this topic.

    That's often correct; they're not gay - they're Bi.

There are a zillion degrees of Bi. Gay and straight are at the polar ends.

There are a million degrees of bi... but only like 12 actual bi guys.

The answer to "how common" is this: "exceedingly rare". The vast majority of men are just plain straight for a range of reasons. The next largest number is gay, and the smallest is bi.

The reason you get the impression that there is some giant multitude of bi-curious straight guys out there (especially if you got that impression by reading this board) is because every gay guy has some fantasy about their best friend or that guy at the gym or the guy next to them in class or the guy who rang up his groceries being secretly, deep down, interested in penis. Straight guys are curious about dick at about the same rate as gay guys are curious about vagina: in vanishingly small numbers.

    Makes perfect sense.

THIS! OP: Just go for it. Get some man. Get some girl. Mix it up too. You won't know if you like it until you try.

    Just do it.

If there are about 12 bisexual guys... count me as one of the 12. I know about three more. This is coming from someone who knows you personally and found this forum by coincidence less than 48 hours after you made the quoted post.

You hit the nail on the head!

It reminds me of some play I saw in NY, years ago. Actor A says to Actor B that he thinks Actor C is bi. Actor B replies, "Please! Half of all gay guys are bi. When you see a bi guy sneaking out of his boyfriends bed to see his girlfriend, then I'll believe he's bi."

Are you purposely obtuse in person too? icon_razz.gif Or do you save that for nit-picking internet hyperbole...

When someone talks about an experience they've had with a "straight" guy, there are alot of variables...

If this his first time? Does he even know himself well enough to admit his actual feelings? Are you more on the fem side? What happens during the exerience? Does he give head or does he top you etc...

A straight guy could certainly have a same sex experience but IMO its usually straight looking guys who arent aware of their sexuality that these stories come from.

Ive never had anything happen with a guy I thought was straight (well, since age 13 or so). But a good buddy of mine --- a big beefy gregarious masculine and charming dude who is a bartender --- is constantly seducing sr8 guys at his bar. Normally if I heard this, I'd think, well the dude is lying, but in this case I really believe him. Ive certainly been around him a lot when he flirts like mad (in a friendly "sup bro" kinda way, not a creepy way) and totally charms str8 guys.....Id never have the balls (or the charm), but he somehow gets away with it. And he is totally upfront with them, from the get-go, about being gay himself.icon_eek.gif

Bill, have you considered that it's really a case of , "... is constantly seducing 'guys that think of themselves as str8' at his bar.' ?

...because just because the guy down the road from me thinks he's a Martian doesn't mean he is. icon_wink.gif

I don't know or care. I don't get involved with guys who don't accept that they're gay, bi or curious. They have to be single or none exclusive dating for me to make a move on them. Otherwise I could careless if how they identify themselves; as long as they do so with some pride in themselves. Hate seeing guys brainwashed to live in their family, coworker's or church's world, and go about hating themselves into self destructive oblivion taking out those who care about them in the process. It is sad really.

    People like to get off.

I've met folks you'd never believe would want a same sex encounter, but, did.

    It's normal.

Many of those folks choose not to label themselves. I'm not sure that's not a good thing.

I doubt you'd ever get an accurate count on this.
Guys will experiment and then never admit to doing it.
I've done things with guys that I truly believe are straight but just wanted to play around and see what it's like.

I've had sex with a good amount of guys who have said they're straight. Whether they really are or haven't come to terms with their sexuality I don't know, but then I don't really care either. I don't see sexuality as black/white, I don't think it's for me to judge. But, I assume they are at least bi since most of them were also married to women and were turned on enough to get a chub and fuck a dude. I also am friends with one guy and one girl who identify as bi, and I take them at their word as they've both dated both sexes. So, to sum up, there must be more than just a few bi's out there. icon_smile.gif

well yes of course....Id say any guy who actually has sex with a guy, even once is, by definition, at least bisexual. (others will disagree, but it's really just semantics.) So I'm really talking, I guess, about guys who have self-identified as straight.

lol, and there are lots of those! I worked with several. One fellow assured me he was straight but just happened to love the feel of a guy's hands on his privates. Just a sensation thing, he claimed. O.o

I believe sexuality is fluid, not static, and very individual. It's nobody's business to define one's sexual orientation except for the person himself.

    most women dont experiment
    most men dont experiment
