I have some scars on my temple from acne. Was wondering has anyone done any acne treatment here? Is laser a good option?

Acne generally doesn't leave scars. What you notice are increased melanin production in the area, which takes months (or even years) to clear out. You can help the process by using medications (ie. hydroquinone). However, you need to address why you are breaking out first.

I've done the laser treatment before, it hurts like a bitch and it feels sunburned badly for like a week but depending on how strong it is applied, will determine how long you heal. It left little black dots all over the area for a few days then started to peel off.

I'd do it more but it cost a ton. I see proactive has some kind of treatment for dark spots caused by acne, you can try that.

I have quite a few scars on my forehead and brow ridge from chickenpox. I used to be bothered by them when I was a teenager and had mild acne. But now that I'm grown up and my acne's long gone, I can't help but think my pox scars add a bit of character to my face icon_wink.gif

Yup, Hydroquinone and peels like Glycolic acid will help to even out your skin tone man. Plus, you will look younger too because the exfoliation causes the skin to create more collagen ! Just make sure you wear an spf 30 everyday or it can actually worsen the situation ! Make sure it's broad spectrum !

Retinoids are also great but it depends whether or not your skin can tolerate them. There are lots of different formulas though these days so just speak to a good dermatologist and they can take you through the different options.

Acne scars fade so expensive laser treatments are worth it . Preventing new scars /acne is important and a lot of the meds have vitamin a which is supposed to peel the skin and get rid of scars at the same time. I never notice the difference on myself but when summer comes nothing works better for scars then tanning and making everything look even.

My whole face was scarred from acne and I did treatments when I was younger that improved them a lot. Targeting a few specific scars is different though from doing your whole face. Laser is the most extreme and expensive option. It will resurface your skin and can change the pigment of the treated area... probably not for you. If the scars are noticeable because there are depressions, then you could try some collagen induction therapy like needling which is used to target very specific scars.

Get a few Glycolic or TCA peels. Will peel them suckers right out and don't forget to use sunblock even if you are not going outside.

Depend on how bad your condition is, you may just need a couple of microdermabrasion, so talk to your dermatology, and on top of that, check out Kate Somerville Detox Daily Cleanser, it doesn't completely get rid of the acne scars but slowly fading them, I have only been using it for only 2.5 months and 80% of the scars i had on my forehead and cheeks are almost gone. Beside it prevent from future breakout, I'm so glad I found it, its a godsend.

I think any surgery procedure to remove acne scars is just ridiculous. If you have some scars, I suggest you use cocoa butter.

Without seeing your and without being a Dr. we can't really guarantee what advice will work. Research the dermatologists in your area, go to one that is respected and talk with them about what your expectations are and they can advise you.

For minor acne scars I recommend just taking good care of your skin and exfoliating daily with like apricot scrub

I would talk to a dermatologist because there are many options available and the direction to go would depend on your particular situation. Your skin color can also effect what would be the best option.

The strangest thing I found was that the best thing i did that helped to get rid of my acne was to put a terry towel on top of my pillow. I don't know why, but I found that it helped me a lot.
