Hahahaha, I had forgotten this classic Edith Prickley SCTV skit.

Was pretty daring for the early 1980's, to be honest. Of course, it's a reference to Bette Midler and similar New York entertainers, but these things were not widely talked about then.

When I first saw this I was pretty young, and deep in the closet. But it raised all sorts of questions. icon_wink.gif

Loved Andrea Martin. Catherine O'Hara was my other favorite on SCTV.

I loved SCTV, too, yet I never saw this skit. Andrea Martin deserved more movie roles, as many of her cast mates got. The last significant thing I saw her in was My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

BTW, I wonder why they didn't have one of the guys doing Barry Manilow at the piano?

Thanks for posting this. I was a big SCTV fan in the early 80s, and have always had an appreciation for the talents of Andrea Martin.

Here's a clip featuring of one of my favorite Andrea Martin characters, sex therapist Dr. Cheryl Kinsey, in which she dispenses teen dating advice laden with hilarious innuendo. Enjoy.
