Hey guys!
Well, as I mentioned before, I figured it's not too early to start looking. I'm planning on running four marathons in May; my only problem is I'm on a budget and need a small room/washroom to stay in downtown Toronto. I'm running the Toronto Marathon, (maybe Fredericton & Halifax) and definitely Ottawa on May 27. Obviously I don't have anywhere near the funds to spring for a hotel/hostel and don't know anyone I could stay with. If anyone does, could you please let me know? This is the one thing that's kind of got me on edge right now.

With that, I'll tell you how I've been training for this. First off, I did this last fall. I ran Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit & Niagara Falls. To compete all four marathons (alone - and trained alone too) was a tremendous boost of confidence and self-esteem - if I could complete this - forget the finishing time - I really felt like my mind was getting in the way of my body. I had to learn how to believe in myself. I also had to do a lot of research and learn how to train smart - having achilles tendinitis, I knew I needed to save my pavement running for the actual marathon, and do as much cardio training as possible with the attitude that I'm looking to build and improve my cardiovascular fitness and capacity - not necessarily run. So I went into cardio lifting - lots of reps, little time between sets, and boy, did I see a difference. I also hopped on the elliptical trainer and the other new elliptical-trainer things. I'm one of those people who has never had any luck swimming; I love to swim but for me personally, swimming has never shredded bodyfat. I needed to stick to workouts that have brought me the best luck in regards to being able to be out there in that marathon for 4-5 hours at a time if I need to.

So guys, let's compare notes. If you're running a race this spring, let me know how you're training and what kind of luck you're having. I'm always open to hearing about new shoes, especially because now they change styles every season, and that model you swear by is generally not around the next summer.
