Showering in scorching hot water is bad for you, in general. Nobody's going to eat you (hopefully) so you don't need to be boiled.
I have often heard that it is a good idea to bounce between a variety of shampoos. I use Whole Foods house brand shampoo for everyday; it's $5 for a pretty big bottle and very mild, and it doesn't contain sodium laurel sulfate
, an ingredient in the vast majority of skin and hair products which many scientists now say may be harmful. When I feel like I need a deeper clean, I use something a little stronger (Body Shop used to make a great cobalt-blue shampoo, which I am rationing my last few bottles of) including a dandruff shampoo. But I wouldn't use that everyday.
