I go to gay bars with straight folks all the time. No they do not hit on other guys, they are straight.

One time one of my straight friends recognized the gogo dancer as his lab partner at school, hilarity ensued :-)

Who would flirt with a member of the sex they are not interested in just to see what happens? Are they social? Yes, do they lead gay men on. No.

They have fun, they always do. You are cute Daelin, here is my advice. There is a direct correlation between the cuteness of the buyer and the strength of the drink. Buy their drinks for them and they will be smashed.

I've taken straight women to gay bars who requested it, usually for some specific party or a fundraiser event, but never a straight guy. There used to be a gay bar I visited that was near 3 different college campuses, and straight students frequently went there for the superior disco music, plus the novelty & thrill.

I never saw any straight guys alone, they were either with their invariably noisy, screeching girlfriends, or the guest of a gay friend. And a number of those brought by women loudly bad-mouthed the gay guys, looking uncomfortable the whole night and spent their time protesting their own innocence of anything gay. A few got really obnoxious and insulting and the management asked them to leave.

I saw a few scuffles start but no real fights ever happened. The straight guy would accuse a gay of making a move on him, or take offense if someone suggested he leave, if he wasn't enjoying himself and couldn't behave and act respectfully in a bar for gays.

At least in that community straights & gays were not a good mix in a gay bar. Except for those a gay guy might bring, whom I suppose were therefore in effect "screened" and so more at ease and better behaved.

I do but I don't really like them... but by straight friends I mean girls. Straight men just come off as predatory and it bothers me. They stick to their little packs and pick off women (who are also in a pack icon_razz.gif).

Male and female sexual behavior is just so different and its uncomfortable. I read a study where a random guy asked a girl to sleep with him after brief small talk (like a bar) and nearly all the girls turned him down (but rated him attractive). When the flip was done, and an attractive girl asked a guy to sleep with her.. nearly all of them said yes.

And that's exactly how it plays out in straight bars. Guys are vying for the one or two people who might sleep with them.

Gay bars are a lot more sociable and friendly imo. I know there is some bitchiness and it depends on where you go but in general gay men are much easier to talk to (for sex or otherwise) than people in straight bars. Guys there won't talk to me because I'm gay, so if I make friends its almost always girls.

And cheap drinks .... and enough cheap drinks and ..... well..... you know the rest of the story ....... and all of a sudden the guy is not so straight anymore. Now of course I don't speak of personal experience in matters such as this icon_wink.gif

The girls bringing their straight BFs generally didn't work so well or at least not nearly as well as the homo guys bringing their hetro guy friends.

I've taken my co workers because they know that's it's easier to approach girls sometimes at gay bars. The Abbey in West Hollywood is mixed crowd with a lot of girls.

On the downside, a good amount of times that I bring my girl cousins, a lot of guys try to get at them so I spend part of my night cock blocking... awkwardicon_neutral.gif

I would love to take my straight buy friends, seeing as how 99.99% of my friends are straight. I'd be too worried about them having a good time and not feeling weirded out by the scene or by the more colorful members of my community or by being hit on.

It's probably all in my head due to my hangups, but I'd be too anxious about it to enjoy it. One day though. I think they'd really have a blast in some aspects.

The old mickey's (pre-fire) was probably a better place for it than abbey. Cantina is also just fine. I've never had a problem with it doing it.

THIS! Daelin, you're not out yet AND you're not getting laid. So, speed things up by getting your buddies hammered and then help them to get home and into bed. Hotness may ensue.

P.S. You're not getting any younger. Better enjoy those good looks while you can. Before you know it, you'll be old. Trust me on this advice.

Yup quite a few times. They were initially a bit nervous after hearing all the stereotypes but cut to a few drinks later and...................they were dancing to Lady Gaga just like the rest of us !

They love it too because of all the straight women who go there.

Micky's is by a wide margin the most flamboyantly and unapologetically faggy dance bar in WeHo. No coincidence it's also the most fun, but I wouldn't dare take my straight friends there. Gawd no.

I can remember some straight friends and I going to The Abbey with a fake ID back in the college waay before I knew I was into boys. I didn't even realize it was a gay bar at the time, but I'm pretty sure there were no go-go boys and tacky music back then to give it away. Quite a different scene now.

Never thought about easing them in with Fiesta Cantina. That's actually a good thought.

That was my own observation, though not a scientific study of the subject.

I started working as a go go dancer in college. It was always fun for my straight buds to see me dance (both in straight clubs and in gay clubs) they got a kick out of how overtly sexual I was with both to get tips.

I still bring striaght buds to gay clubs we do flirt a bit, have done some dancing with a few of them on one occasion it turned into more.

We used to go mostly on late Sunday afternoon / early evening and switch back and forth between Cantina and Mickey's. Same day/time with Ripples in LB. That's always been my favorite time to out and be really queer.
