Anyone else a fan of UK electro music act Goldfrapp ?

I've been a big fan ever since they released Black Cherry. I loved Alison's amazing ethereal vocals and Will Gregory's filthy synth drenched productions on that album.

My favourite album of their's is Supernature. It had the perfect balance of uptempo and downtempo reflective tracks.

I think pretty much everyone has heard Ooh La La from that record (with it's Spirit In The Sky influenced sound). It's been used in so many adverts.

They released a greatest hits record recently and it got me thinking about what an amazing body of work they have released over the years (bar Head First, didn't really like that album).

What do you think of them ?

Sounds like a good electro-pop remake of Spirit in the Sky, by Norman Greenbaum.
They've got the right clothes for it.

Goldfrapp's debut, Felt Mountain, is one of my favorite albums of all time. It's a mesmerizing trip through the soundscape of the mind. Unfortunately, Alison wanted to move away from that moody style and I haven't enjoyed an entire album since. I pretty much lost interest after Supernature.

Love them. I have their discography on my ipod minus some of the B side tracks and Head First. Seventh Tree is my summer jam. I spent an entire summer once studying biology and drinking iced green tea from Caribou Coffee in the park while listening to it. Also I'm apparently facebook friends with the guy (Jeyjon) that's playing the synth on the far left.

When Seventh Tree came out, I was not that impressed on first listen, but kept listening and it grew to become my favorite. The single Caravan Girl is pure, perfect pop. I also very much like the single Yellow Halo (one of two new songs) off the current The Singles.

Goldfrapp's music is hit and miss for me. Most of her songs I can enjoy but it's not totally my style. Others though... man oh man they take me to another world and I absolutely love it.

This one is by far my favorite song. This is the goldfrapp I know and love. Totally my style. One of my top songs of 2011.

I love the 'Black Cherry' record. It was such a huge leap for them and for me, 'Supernature' melded the beauty of 'Felt Mountain' with 'Black Cherry.'
That being said, 'Seventh Tree' reminds me so much of Joni Mitchell that it remains my favorite record of theirs. "Voicething" on 'Head First' is my favorite track on that record and "Yellow Halo" stuns me! Seen them live 5 times with each time better than the last!

When they first released Seventh Tree, I was utterly floored. Like none of the albums that came before, though those were nothing to sneeze at either. It sounded both organic and electronically polished at the same time. (Folk electronica, if you will.)

I can still listen all the way through and not want to skip ahead 4 yrs later. I can only say that about two other albums: Basement Jaxx' Rooty and Remedy LP's.

Awesome remix and Strict Machine is the SHIT !

I really like the live version too. The intro is killer ! She's a goddess on stage. Check out the operatic vocals towards the end.

Love me some Goldfrapp. It's definitely in my electro mix for working out. Can't wait to spend some time with the new stuff.

I've been a Goldfrapp faithful fan for a long time - and so many people don't realize - as they are just now hearing Goldfrapp for the first time thanks to Spotiffy - that they/she has been around forever. I am really enjoying the Singles release and listen to Melancholy Sky almost every week. I want to see them live badly

I saw them live during the Supernature era. My god are they amazing. Alison is such a good singer that you think she's lip synching because she's THAT good !
Band is also awesome. I had a thing for their bassist lol .

    I don't know many songs, but I love the 3 I have.

I saw this awescintillating video of her live on youtube, where she played that electro-instrument that changed pitch based on waving your hand in the air over it. Wish I could find it for you, she looked ridiculously cool.
