The "little" people have exactly right, they are not a whole lot better than 4 years ago.

Polls hardly reflect reality. Why I don`t doubt that 80% thing may be true, it`s ridiculous to think that a generalized set of numbers is actually an accurate portrayal of the financial realities of most Americans today.

Unemployment rate is, indeed, still high and I agree with you that letting people fall off the rolls prevents an accurate picture. But more jobs have been created in the last 3.25 years than during the entire Bush administration. Further, I have a car and know that the American president does not control gas prices. Keystone will not lower them. We've increased drilling 350% since Obama took office and it's had no bearing on the price of gas.

Finally, I, and many other progressives, am religious and am fine with people owning fire arms. What we're not okay with is anyone being able to get a semi-automatic weapon on the spur of the moment.

I want people to be well informed and get their news from multiple sources. In discussions with a few liberals over the past several months, I was amazed at how little they knew about current events. Not concerned about the 20% who call themselves liberals, or further left; they may be familiar with current events, but still driven by their ideology.

I think, based on all my interactions, that it's very simple. People with their incomes and assets are paying some of the lowest tax burdens in the history of the Republican and they do not want to pay a penny more.

And, each of the presidential candidates they support will lower their taxes and raise mine and yours.
