St. Patricks day falls on a Saturday this year, and the beginning of my spring break! I'm making a trip out to Chicago... What are your plans?

To locally celebrate the 17th anniversary of my coming out on March 17, 1995, as I do every year, my "second birthday". Being part Irish I had always celebrated the day anyway from when I was a kid, so it's kinda nice for me that I have a holiday to commemorate this personal event.

South Florida isn't quite as much fun as my native New York City area for genuine Irish bars, with genuine Irish starting genuine drunken brawls, and no parades here like I used to march in, but I'll find some way to entertain myself.

Watching England beat Ireland at Twickenham in the 6 nations (on TV).icon_smile.gif
Then going out for a drink, if I can get in a pub, because the stadium's about 1.5 miles from home & 80,000 Rugby fans need a drink (or 6) after the match.

Also cursing the traffic said fans generateicon_smile.gif

Doubtful... My Irish will drop at least 30 on England. Won't be close come 2nd half, beat the rush and leave early for bars. ;)

Due to the fact that we haven't celebrated St. Patrick's Day yet, how did they get the numbers for 2012?

I was joking, I think Ireland will probably win (although we did beat France in Paris so it might be closer).

    Which bar? Twickenham or Richmond?

Going to see one of my fav. indie/unsigned rock bands tomorrow night in NYC. Then on Sat. we are going to a "gastropub" (not nuts about that name) that has live music with a friend of my BF, then staying at her house, which is on a lake. We may pre-game on the patio depending on the weather.

An update: found out yesterday (March 16) that we would be attending a private St. Patrick's party today. I just knew we'd be doing something, we always do. Starts around 4 PM, until we all pass out I presume.

We're bringing some stuff, deserts I think, my husband's getting them right now, all pre-made. Main food item will be corned beef & cabbage, naturally. And enough Irish whiskey to kill us all. Well, not too dead, we're having a champagne breakfast for 5 at our place tomorrow morning (Sunday), gotta be reasonably functional.

    Éirinn go Brách!
