Great question. Had to leave the U.S. and live in another country (Canada) to get a different perspective. Personally and for some time now before I left the States, believe the world and its geo-political environment is changing beyond our post-WWII and Cold War times. Nations have to recognize economic and security events in other parts of the world may effect us in North America. Collective diplomacy, not unilateral diplomacy or military action, may be the world's salvation. Otherwise we will all perish.

See the problem were Great Britten and Empire went wrong is it thought it could fix the worlds problem, when it just could not, and America is no diffrent or any better.

Just as not all things went to plan for Great Britten, not all has gone to plan for America either, like training Afghanistan to fight Russia. Now Russia is not the perceived problem it once was, but now America has to fight Afghanistan, yet America trained them to well, and it's all gone belly up. Americas time as a supper Power is numbered, next on the list will be China as the next supper power; OMG it already owns America.
