If he can make it there...

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/7718133/new-york-jets-acquire-tim-tebow-4th-round-pick

The 4-Letter NetworkUnusually quiet in recent weeks, the New York Jets shattered the calm Wednesday by completing a trade for polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow, the team confirmed.

The Jets will send a fourth-round pick to the Denver Broncos, a source said.

Tebow, a former first-round pick, went on the trading block Monday when the Broncos secured free agent Peyton Manning, who signed a five-year, $96 million contract.

Several teams expressed interest, including Tebow's hometown Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Jets -- perceived as a sleeper at the outset -- pulled off the splashiest trade of the offseason.

Tebow will join a cast of backups behind incumbent Mark Sanchez, but his presence could ignite a quarterback controversy. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie tweeted before the trade that "we don't need Tebow," expressing his confidence in Sanchez and the current roster.

The timing of the trade is curious.

Yeah, but the writer's co-worker provided the rationale just yesterday.

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/7717287/new-york-jets-tim-tebow-right-play-gang-green

The Worldwide Leader in SportsTebow brings a rare physicality to his position. When Sanchez runs toward daylight, it looks like he'd rather be doing almost anything else, even booking a two-week Caribbean cruise with Holmes. Sanchez is athletic enough to escape the pocket and throw accurately on the move, but he's not a threat to do any downfield damage with his feet.

Tebow ruined the Jets' season by running wild on that 95-yard end-game drive in Denver. The home quarterback had been dreadful for most of the night, honoring Darrelle Revis' contention that he was a bore. But then Revis whiffed on a Tebow tackle, and then Eric Smith missed his target on a blitz, and then Tebow was flexing his comic book arms in the end zone before the Jets went home a complete 5-5 wreck.

Poor Antonio Cromartie. I smell a walkback, n'est-ce pas?

    https://twitter.com/#!/ACromartie

((from yesterday when the speculation started))

@ACromartieWe don't need Tebow. We sell out every home game let him go to Jacksonville Tampa or Miami. Our wildcat offense can b ran by J. Kerley or Joe McKnight we straight

@TheJetsStream I don't know y. We have @Mark_Sanchez and jus signed Drew. Mark has taken us to 2 AFC championship game. We need to build on the team we have now.

    ((from just 2 hours ago))

@ACromartieY bring Tebow in when we need to bring in more Weapons for @Mark_Sanchez let's build the team around him. We already signed to 3 year ext.

I cant figure out why they did this. My only guess is to steal the media attention from the Giants as the Jets are always the NY also rans and have nothing going on with respect to winning the super bowl. I think its just for a year or two of media attention and perhaps giving Sanchez a wake up call.

Well, I'm glad he landed somewhere. He deserves a chance, as does anyone who works hard and has a good attitude. He clearly has shown that he adds something to teams. Maybe the Jets needed him to balance the negative attention Ryan brought to them, and to balance Sanchez's skills on the field. Indirectly, it may be a wakeup call to Tim to improve quickly as this proves how disposable he appears to be, though going up against a 4-time MVP is a bit tough.

I haven't taken time to grasp the contract snag. But, how do the Broncos trade up in 2010 to get him with a second, third, and fourth round pick... make a ton of money off him after a playoff run... and only get a fourth and a sixth round pick in return? Not that teams were banging down Denver's door, but surely, NYJ's offer couldn't have been the best thing out there.

I can hardly wait for football season to start next season. It will be really interesting to see how this all unfolds as Tebow-mania moves to The Big Apple. If Mark Sanchez messes up, and fans start chanting "Tebow, Tebow, Tebow", it will likely cause all kinds of drama within the Jets front office, not to mention the locker room. Even more interesting will be to see what happens if Peyton Manning messes up, should the Denver fans also start chanting "Tebow, Tebow, Tebow". This could very well happen, and if/when it does I am not so sure it will be good for Tim Tebow. There are enough haters already. I want to see the Jets led by Mark Sanchez end up in the AFC championship game against the Peyton Manning lead Broncos...with the Broncos in the lead by 21 points and 6 minutes to go when Sanchez is injured and in comes Tim Tebow....the stadium goes bonkers "It's Tebow Time!" and the Jets pull off the upset of the century sending Manning and Elway to the locker room and Tebow and the Jets to The Super Bowl.

Hey, a guy can dream can't he? icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Big Jet fan here. Sad to say that the team now has two nice guys with so-so talent for QB. Ugh. When are they going to get a winner?

Maybe they just got one. Tebow took the Broncos to the playoffs this year, Sanchez didn't manage that with the Jets. The Broncos also beat the Jets. Maybe, just maybe, this will end up being a great thing for Sanchez because the pressure could make him a better quarterback and stronger leader. There are far worse things that could happen to the NY Jets than for "Tebow Time" to sweep in and energize the whole franchise. Tebow did it in Denver, so it stands to reason that lightning could strike twice.

Would be nice, but I doubt it. Neither of these guys has really shown that he is a great quarterback. I hope they prove me wrong next year.

I have no doubt that the Tebow non-believers won't even want to give him credit due even if he's in The Super Bowl. Two NCAA championships and a Heisman Trophy sure didn't work, nor did getting the Broncos to the playoffs his first starting season.

A foolish move for an average player...if he plays running back, fine, otherwise its dumb, Sanchez isnt good enough, Tebow isnt good enough and it wont get the Jets anywhere, it was a poorly made decision...Rex Ryan is a defensive mind in an offensive modern game...Elway was smart enough to know Tebow wouldnt make it...Tannenbaum clearly isnt as smart or just wants publicity
