Why the hell does Atlantis port in countries that still have archaic laws like "buggery"?

I would say gays should boycott Atlantis gay cruises until they avoid gay-hostile ports. Why pay to be taken to places where we are at risk?

Does AP associate previous drug busts with all their current stories about heterosexual sodomy too? Or do they just reserve that homophobic crap for us?

The last time authorities in the Caribbean intervened on a gay cruise was in February 2011, when agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested a California man aboard the Allure of the Seas, which had docked in St. Thomas. The man, Steven Barry Krumholz of West Hollywood, pleaded guilty to selling ecstasy, methamphetamine and ketamine to fellow passengers

    http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/2161803/

theantijock said back in February" British man jumps from Allure of the Seas Atlantis charter in apparent suicide. I think there are RJ guys on this sailing! "

Have you read some of the posts here? They probably bullied him to death.

Oh, and I love how the story paints us as drug dealing ship jumpers...

"In November of last year, an American man was jailed for selling drugs on the Allure of the Seas from what the sentencing judge termed an “apothecary” in his cabin.

Steven Krumholz, 51, from California, was found with more than 142 ecstasy pills, methamphetamine, a small amount of ketamine, and about $51,000 (£31,000) in cash.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 21 months in prison for dealing drugs to fellow passengers on the gay cruise.
    "

Because, you know, whenever you write a story about a sad suicide in 2012, you never fail to mention a drug bust from the previous year.

When that guy committed suicide on the last Atlantis cruise, I was reading news articles at a cruise website... on a previous voyage of the Allure of the Seas (a non-gay week) there were multiple rapes reported! The media never seems to mention that when they cover straight cruises.

In fairness, a concept I'd like for AP to re-evaluate, the rape was reported here for instance http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/girl-15-lured-cruise-ship-room-raped-authorities-article-1.1002151

But my point is that when they report the hetero stuff, they report on just that incident with a sharp pencil in hand. They don't try to smear the entire str8 community because of the actions of one of its individuals.

However, when they report on a tragedy involving the gay community, they paint us with a dirty brush.

The only way you get arrested for having sex is if you're having PUBLIC sex. Keep sex private. Fuckin idiots. Good riddance.

Obviously you have never heard of the 2003 Lawrence v. Texas SCOTUS case.

I don't know the details but what was reported in this story is that "the men were seen having sex on the Celebrity Summit cruise ship by someone on the dock"

What, did they have their opera glasses with them?

So it makes me wonder how many heterosexuals have been arrested for enjoying blow jobs out on their stateroom balconies.

If these people had sex in their cabin like everybody else, they wouldn't have been caught.

There's been no indication yet where they having sex. You made the assumption that it wasn't in their stateroom.

I read that they were "seen." You don't just get seen doing it. A cruise ship is not a bathhouse, as much as I wish.

No. What you read is that they were somewhere onboard a 12-story ship and that they were supposedly seen by someone who was not on the ship but who was somewhere else down on the dock.

Why do gays continue to vacation in KNOWN anti-gay places? Diplomatic immunity is reserved for politicians and royalty.

No that's actually not what I read whatsoever. And don't give me that supposedly crap? If they were arrested that means they were seen... or are you saying they turned themselves in and confessed???

As I posted above. This is what the article says, which is all I know about it

"the men were seen having sex on the Celebrity Summit cruise ship by someone on the dock"

That picture I posted is a pic of the actual vessel. I don't know how it was positioned at the dock where the incident occurred. I find it hard to imagine how someone on the dock might have spotted, at random, two guys being playfrul with each other on their vacation on that big ship. It makes me think that someone either had to be looking for it, when there maybe should have been presumed privacy, or that the entire thing has been trumped up.

If they were on the dock directly alongside the ship, the couple would have had to have been hanging over the side of the ship for them to have gotten a good view. And by the way, where's the youtube proof?

That they were arrested means nothing. People get arrested all the time when they did nothing wrong. And even if they were enjoying each other, do you seriously think they apply their public sex laws (or whatever they are using in this) on heterosexuals who enjoy theirselves on their cruises? Probably not.

Agreed. Probably not. But that's their law/culture, unfortunately. I've been on 3 gay cruises. No problems. Time of my life. These things rarely happen.

They are also charged with indecent exposure. If that sticks they are at least guilty of being very stupid by having sex in public in Dominica. But let's just hope someone was prying and that they didn't make it easy on the authorities.

Shocked that buggery is still a crime.

Your lack of sympathy for gay men arrested with prejudice is noted. And I guess the rarity you claim makes it OK. Just so long as it doesn't happen TOO often, right? icon_rolleyes.gif

Ya. Got that. Though then that being the case and this being a gay cruise, I certainly hope the cruise line and the event planner take some responsibility for putting their guests--knowing who their guests were and knowing the culture of the host country--in harms way.

Here's a satellite of what might be the docks. If it is the main dock by the tourist agency, the angle from the dock up to the ship is too great for this to not be bogus. If it is the smaller dock by the shopping area, which it might have been, I don't know, then someone would have had a better view on the approach dock. But still, they'd have had to have had a keen eye to spot two people on that ship.

sorry about that, google map didn't show up right. docks are just south of the mouth of that river running thru town.

Apparently, the buggery charge (sodomy) has been dropped and now they're just being charged with indecent exposure. They were apparently having sex on their cabin's balcony in view of the city... which yeh, is pretty stupid of them.

I still think it's ridiculous that Atlantis ports at these anti-gay islands. According to this Dominican news site, the locals were not happy about seeing only men disembark.
