I do not support either major party and in fact they both make me sick so this is not a Republican vs. Democrat response from me...IMO, they both suck. I wish I could see both sides leave and I am bothered that people (not the OP) blindly follow whichever group because it's the way they were raised or for other reasons.
This is the federal government employment from its own web site. This does not include state & local governments.
Between the years 1962 & 2010, the lowest federal employment was during Clintons last full year in office, 2000.
It's an interesting dynamic, should federal government shrink if state & local government expand? Do you back state & local government autonomy? There are many variables that affect the ability for different governments to hire or allow people to remain employed such as (but not limited to) the elected leaders mind set on goverment employment to the governments ability to barrow or raise additional taxes either through higher rates or expanded economy (to name a few).
In the end, I feel the OPs posted link lacks depth in its analysis and proves nothing other than the author has an agenda or otherwise lacks the knowledge to provide a wider view.
And by the way, according to the federal governments own numbers, the federal government DID grow by about 200,000 after Obama took office by the end of 2010.
