Well thats too late for that now, isn't it Mr. Ravi?
Pretty arrogant of him to not choose the plea deal, only to be guilty on most charges.

If you ask me, he deserves this.

"Ravi said he used a camera mounted on his computer in their freshman dorm room to see Clementi and an older man, identified only as M.B., kissing only because he was worried by the man's scruffy appearance.

"If it was a girl who came to the room and she looked as strange as M.B., I would have done the same thing," Ravi told the Star-Ledger."

Really? That's the reason? And that is why you invited all your friends to watch? Wouldn't most people just give advice and a warning to his friend or roommate if he worried about his friend's safety with the person the friend was hooking up with?

What do you call an apology sandwiched between pleading innocent and the appeal?

    Shit on rye.

yourname2000 saidBonus points to the prison if they also "invite people to watch on webcam" Mr Ravi's first gay encounter....I have a feeling he's really gonna find out how his roommate felt....over and over and over again. (And Mr Ravi: some of your prison mates are gonna be REALLY scruffy.)

    Ditto!!!

""I'm never going to regret not taking the plea," Ravi told the Newark Star-Ledger in an interview published on Thursday."

Would he have been able to stay in the states if he took the plea?

Trollileo saidThe bad thing is that I can imagine this exact same situation happening at my university and no one would bat an eye.
I think that would be unfortunate that anyone would try this stunt again. Stupid even.

There is a straight porn genre best described as M/F butt sex. Its not very novel anymore.

Honestly, I feel bad for him. I'm not sure he was anti-gay either.

At least he wasn't tried for causing his death...

As wrong as it is what this guy did, and as douchey as he seems, it's still not his fault his roommate killed himself. And the charges against him probably wouldn't be this serious if that hadn't happened. I don't think he deserves to do time.

Would you still feel bad for him if the person committing suicide was a friend or relative of yours?

Well, I dont think Dharun accepted Tyler with open arms and mind. He made the choice to be immature and humiliated Tyler which led to his suicide.

I don't feel a shred of sympathy for this kid. The only people who deserve my sympathy is the Clementi family, especially his brother.

Yeah, it's a horrible thing to do to someone, but I don't think Ravi should take all the blame for the death of his roommate. If someone did this to me I'd chug through it as much as it life at college sucked. I'd change universities if I had to, but the victim had a lot more options than just suicide.

Tyler had explored other options, such as changing dorm mates and reporting Ravi's actions. But, like you posted earlier, no one batted an eye, his cries for help fell on deaf ears.

I can imagine the crushing feeling of desperation and the fear that he would be teased about the videos relentlessly weeks later.

Some people can deal with it and move on. Unfortunately, Tyler couldn't cope with such emotions and saw suicide as a way out. I know that was Tyler's choice ultimately, but Ravi pushed him there whether he was aware of the damages or not.

Ravi had other options to entertain his friends and himself, but he targeted Tyler's sexual life for shits and giggles.

I find that the majority of the user comments under the article to be a great deal disturbing...

"Why don't parents just teach their kids that being gay is wrong?"

"This is why people shouldn't engage in pre-marital behavior."

Just shows why F*tards and their illogical opinions are the poison of the world, lol...

I cannot say with certitude that I would. But he was not charged with causing his death, and having been suicidal myself I know mental illness is extremely complex. I highly doubt Tyler was mentally healthy or stable before the video recording.

He can always apologize at his gravesite (that is if the Clemneti family would allow that). But I doubt he has the balls to do that, as Ravi comes across the type of guy who looks for the easy and painless way out. Well, at least for me he does.

It used to be in this country that it was recognized pretty much universally that there WERE life-long consequences for bad behavior and some of those consequences could be unintended, which is EXACTLY why such bad behavior should not be countenanced in the first place. Yes, there probably were other options than suicide, but, gee! those didn't seem to occur to Clementi in his pain from his roommate's stupid, callous, insensitive, un-empathetic actions, did they? That Ravi pays the consequences should prove a lesson to him that he was direly wrong in his action, to his parents that they fucked up royally in the raising of their children, and as a warning to others not to do the same thing -- all in all, not a bad result from the justice system. And if he learns a bit more while he is in prison, so be it. One must learn in life that one's actions bear consequences. Saying "Sorry" is not an antidote to gross behavior one should have found abhorrent intuitively.

I think the punishment went overboard. Yes someone committed suicide, but I am not convinced that Ravi should be punished for it. He even texted him a few minutes before Clementi jumped to apologize and say he didn't care about his sexual orientation. To me that demonstrates Clementi's issues with things beyond what his roommate did or thought of him.

Though not the same exact circumstances, stuff like this happens a lot during college and goes unpunished. Frat guys take hidden videos of their conquests and rarely get punished. This just seemed like a witch hunt IMO.

And you sat in the jury box.. correct? No? well then you might want to see Ravi's history of actions and just exactly what he did do.. which is quite far off from your 'version' of events..

    do a little homework.icon_wink.gif
