From what I see, most young gay men work at bars/strip clubs or some other entertainment related field. Also some evidence I collected from the forum such as Zendafuckout wanting to serve tables over a desk job and Edward23 not knowing how to make a resume..

I am wondering are younger gay mens rejecting resumes/professional jobs and looking into more of an entertainment lifestyle.

I didn't have a descent resume till my mid 30's.

But it had no basis in my gayness. It was more due to my being sheltered as a teen, and having to live my "teen" years in my 20's.

I don't believe that is true.

Why? Because there's a visible subset of young gay men who behave in a certain way?

Guys submit resumes to me all the time. Can't say that I have investigated which ones are gay and which are straight, but my gaydar pings enough to say that plenty of young gay guys have resumes.

I do... it just doesn't get me as far as I'd like these days.

With the mostly clerical/office experience I have, everyone seems to pay more attention to my little stints in fast food.

Definitely have a resume.. pretty extensive for my age too IMO. No idea how this is related to being gay though.

i have both resumes and a curriculum vitae. no matter what job ur applying for, a resume adds professionalism. a strong resume/cover letter is ur "introduction," and 1st impressions r very important in a job search.

Forget resumes. Most young gay men should come with warning labels.

Change most to many. Also please don't be stereotypical. I have my resume locked and loaded and it should be very competitive come time for graduation. Many college aged guys do work in the entertainment/service industry because the hours are flexible and the pay is decent.

Hes trolling. I think he picks on you because you seem to get offended. I dont take him to seriously though.

I am starting to learn that as well and just not gonna pay him any mind on here. I wish those (the ones who feed into it and comment) could see him for what he is

Edward stfu, you are about to graduate college and yet you have no idea how to make a resume. Seriously WTF! If you spent more time focusing o your career rather then trying to be Aaliyah, maybe you would be somewhere now.

As for everyone else. I am just speaking from my experience. Young gay men want a "PR" over a resume/normal 8 to 5 job. They feel that they are quasi-celebrities because of their sexuality combined with looks/talent. Take Colton from survivor example. I am just saying it how I see it.

This is hilarious who said i was trying to be like Aaliyah. I stated my opinion that every post that you make and every one that i make you troll me for no apparent reason and have people feed into it like it is a sick game.

You are not trying to be like Aaliyah? Really edward, I mean really? That is like saying the sky is not blue and the grass is not green.

And you still do not know how to make a fucking resume and you are about to graduate college. So if anyone should be mad, its your momma for wasting good money on your college studies

Thank you for being honest atleast. I know most gay men feel they are more suited for a job where they are judged on looks/charm over technical knowledge/skills.

This is a remarkably revealing statement about the people you know. You might want to consider the possibility that it is not otherwise accurate.

I'm 22 years old and have a full resume including 5 years work for UPS, a bachelors degree in Physiology, running a health and wellness program for an area of UPS, and 6 years of Lifeguarding. And some fast food work but why include that? Just throwing that out there.

I have never worked in entertainment.
